Job Summary
The Cell Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting ONE’s cell development and manufacturing through testing, inspection, and statistical data analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in battery cell manufacturing and APQP/PPAP requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives a culture of safety, quality, and excellence in all aspects of work.
- Establishes quality controls and inspection methodologies for cell manufacturing process to prevent and detect failures
- Lead failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action and verification with a cross functional team.
- Drive cross-functional problem-solving teams to lead process and product improvements and facilitate issues resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation, and validation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Leads the development of Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plan with a cross-functional team and tracks the update.
- Install and maintain QC lab equipment to ensure optimal quality control of process and products.
- Develops and implements quality standards (WI, Procedures) for the cell manufacturing processes as incoming, Electrode, Assembly and Formation
- Train quality technicians to perform quality inspections for raw materials, parts and processed products.
- Utilizes problem solving methodologies (8D, 3x5WHY, Pareto Charts, Fishbone, DOE…) to ensure effective root cause analysis.
- Continuously monitor and improve the SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- Completes and monitor capability studies on process and product characteristics.
- Perform measurement system analysis through Gage R&R.
- Supports the calibration of measurement equipment.
- Supports containment and product disposition in the event of nonconformance.
- Performs Layered Process Audits re-enforcing compliance to standards and immediately correcting any situations that are noncompliant.
- Supports the tracking of KPIs and monitors performance through trend analysis. Opens continuous improvement projects in the event a negative trend is identified.
- Supports the Quality Management System and any internal/external audits.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by leadership.

- Background in effective problem solving utilizing multiple methodologies.
- Effective communicator that can articulate concise problem statements.
- Experience of quality control in a highly automated and high-speed manufacturing industry.
- Experience launching products from a tier I level in the automotive industry.
- APQP/PPAP experience.
- Proven track record of driving quality improvements in a mass manufacturing setting.
- Expertise and hands-on experience in high purity chemicals and impacts on device performance and manufacturing.
Education and/or Experience
- 4+ years of relevant manufacturing industry experience
- 2+ years of Li-Ion cell manufacturing experience or understanding of Li-ion battery cell is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Quality, Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience of quality control metrology is a plus (cycler, micro-scope, KF titrator, SEM/EDX, Multimeter, CMM, etc)
- Strong understanding and application of Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and SPC)
- Quality Management System knowledge (IATF 6949, ISO9001…)
- CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) is a plus.
- CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) is a plus
- CRE(Certified Reliability Engineer) is a plus
- Minitab / SPC training is a plus.
- Strong data analysis skill is a plus.
- GD&T Training is plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
