Role Description:

The AI Practice Lead at OneSix will lead a high-performing team of ML engineers and data scientists and oversee the development and deployment of AI solutions for clients. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen to deliver impactful AI-driven innovations while fostering organizational growth and excellence.  At its core, this is a role for a senior technologist who is deep in the craft of machine learning and data science.  While there’s not a need to be deep in the code, the ideal candidate is both an artisan and practitioner who understands system architecture and machine learning models and can lead both clients and teams through the development of effective solutions deployed at production scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high performing team of AI & ML Engineers, Data Scientists, and Analysts.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and knowledge-sharing culture within the AI/ML team.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top AI and ML talent to strengthen OneSix’s expertise.
  • Provide technical and strategic guidance, ensuring the team delivers high-quality AI solutions.
  • Encourage continuous learning, innovation, and best practices in AI and ML engineering.

Technical Leadership

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of AI models, ensuring best practices in model governance, interpretability, and ethical AI principles.
  • Lead AI/ML initiatives covering data collection, preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Ensure scalability and performance of AI models and production pipelines.
  • Advocate for MLOps best practices to enhance reproducibility and automation of AI/ML workflows.

AI & Machine Learning Strategy & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities for AI & ML applications across industries and business domains.
  • Define and execute AI strategies aligned with OneSix’s business goals and client needs.
  • Develop a roadmap for AI & ML development, including model lifecycle management, deployment strategies, and scalability.
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI/ML technologies and frameworks, evaluating and recommending adoption where appropriate.

Client Engagement & Consulting

  • Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and identify AI-driven solutions.
  • Present AI strategies, use cases, and business impact to clients, securing buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with client teams on AI solution integration and provide ongoing support for production environments.

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify new AI-driven business opportunities within the professional services industry.
  • Develop proposals and presentations showcasing the business value of AI solutions.
  • Contribute to the company’s innovation roadmap, ensuring continuous improvement in AI offerings.
  • Drive key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Customer Satisfaction (CSAT), Employee Satisfaction (ESAT), and team utilization.

Experience & Qualifications:

Technical & Leadership Expertise

  • Deep expertise in AI & machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and probabilistic modeling.
  • Strong background in data engineering, feature engineering, and model deployment.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Scala, with experience using AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based AI/ML platforms (AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, Azure ML) and MLOps practices.
  • Experience with Snowflake is preferred, especially for scalable AI/ML and analytics pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience in AI/ML-focused roles.

Client-Facing & Business Development Skills

  • 10+ years of consultative experience in AI, ML, or data-driven solutions, with a track record of delivering high-value engagements.
  • Strong client-facing presence with high levels of energy, proactivity, and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Experience working in an alliance ecosystem (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Google, Microsoft, Oracle) is strongly preferred.
  • Superb interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and nurture executive-level relationships.
  • Experience engaging with C-suite stakeholders, demonstrating the business impact of AI solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills; history of delivering engaging executive-level presentations.
  • Clear understanding of the value creation potential of AI and ML services for enterprises.
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) is required
  • An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is preferred.
