Senior Product Marketing Manager

Missoula, Montana, United States

ABOUT onX

As a pioneer in digital outdoor navigation with a suite of apps, onX was founded in Montana, which in turn has inspired our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone. With more than 400 employees located around the country working in largely remote / hybrid roles, we have created regional “Basecamps” to help remote employees find connection and inspiration with other onXers. We bring our outdoor passion to work every day, coupling it with industry-leading technology to craft dynamic outdoor experiences.

Through multiple years of growth, we haven’t lost our entrepreneurial ethos at onX. We offer a fast-paced, growing, tech-forward environment where ownership, accountability, and passion for winning as a team are essential. We value diversity and believe it leads to different perspectives and inspires both new adventures and new growth. As a team, we’re hungry to improve, value innovation, and believe great ideas come from any direction.

Important Alert: Please note, onXmaps will never ask for credit card or SSN details during the initial application process. For your digital safety, apply only through our legitimate website at onXmaps.com or directly via our LinkedIn page.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

onX is seeking a curious, proactive, data-driven, and collaborative Senior Product Marketing Manager to fuel our next stage of growth. In this role, you will build a drumbeat of onX innovation, inspiring current and prospective customers with the onX value proposition. You will serve as the strategic “hub” between Product and Marketing—building processes for information-sharing, equipping your fellow marketers with relevant content and context, and leading or partnering on customer-facing product launches and communications to drive engagement. Additionally, you will help refine our customer profiles using both qualitative and quantitative data.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment, is self-directed in delivering impact without a defined blueprint, and can quickly earn trust with cross-functional peers and stakeholders. This position currently reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You’ve served in a Product Marketing role in more than one company, including B2C mobile subscription experience. You’re fluent working with both Product teams and Marketing teams, and you have a strong perspective on how Product Marketing drives business growth.
  • You’re a gifted storyteller, skilled at turning product features into compelling, human-focused narratives. A strong writer, you can deliver blogs, in-product copy, or PR blurbs with ease, and you excel at persuading and presenting to audiences.
  • You have a deep need to understand the customer. You have a data-driven approach and are just as comfortable analyzing behavioral data in Amplitude as you are conducting user interviews. You are genuinely curious about what inspires the customer, and you are comfortable disconfirming existing beliefs.
  • You’re a hands-on “builder.” You’re able to bungee jump from the strategic sphere into hands-on execution, without missing a beat. You’re scrappy. There is no one to delegate to, within this role.
  • You have high organizational agility. You collaborate proactively, build trust across levels, and successfully influence outside of your direct sphere of control. You turn opportunities into results by bringing people together.
  • You’re self-directed and thrive in ambiguity. This is a new role. You’ll build, adapt, and refine new cross-functional processes. You have experience finding the next step forward in “greenfield” situations. You have a bias for action.
  • You have a passion for growing a business and are results-driven. You recognize Product Marketing’s role across the funnel, and you’ll measure the impact of your projects so you can learn, adapt, better engage customers, and drive growth.

As an onX Senior Product Marketing Manager, your essential job duties and responsibilities will look like:

  • Collaborate early and often with Product teams to define customer benefits in the roadmap, create tiering by customer impact, and establish processes to translate product roadmaps into marketing-enablement. Assess upcoming launches to identify bigger stories and develop multi-feature positioning. Maintain a universal marketing launch calendar and a centralized messaging repository for all major features. Your goal: Marketers should know what’s coming and why it matters for customers.
  • Create a consistent drumbeat of onX innovation, in partnership with channel owners and internal PR team. Define customer needs, develop the product messaging/positioning for the platform capabilities that differentiate our products, and ensure the website communicates new features and value propositions in a compelling, seasonally relevant way. Your goal: Customers (and the media) are excited about what’s new and what’s coming next from onX.
  • Lead impactful go-to-market launches for onX platform features, serving as a strategic partner to the Product team with a focus on driving customer engagement. Define marketing needs and coordinate execution across the marketing organization. Partner with vertical teams to support launches that are vertical-specific. Support ad hoc needs such as in-product copy or feature naming. Your goal: Feature launches consistently drive customer engagement and deliver measurable results.
  • Initiate new programs to engage onX customers with onX features and innovations (e.g. newsletters, blogs, demos, video series). Apply a test-and-learn mindset to refine strategies, improve product engagement, and ultimately boost retention. Your goal: Develop initiatives that deepen customer engagement and inspire ongoing loyalty.
  • Support efforts to better understand existing and target customers, sharing insights across the organization. Influence cross-functional teams (Product, Eng, Design) to adopt a customer-centric approach, by providing data-driven insights and input on product enhancements. Monitor the outdoor tech and mapping ecosystem to identify go-to-market opportunities, emerging use cases, and areas for growth. Your goal: Achieve stronger product-market fit and create the best possible customer journey.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in Product Marketing (or a similar role) at a technology-driven company, ideally with experience in software, digital platforms, or mobile applications.
    • Business-to-consumer (B2C) mobile subscription product experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to drive measurable business outcomes in a tech-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with user behavioral data tools such as Amplitude (preferred), Heap, Pendo, or Mixpanel, with the ability to analyze data and extract actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in structuring complex analyses, deriving customer insights, and applying high business acumen to strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft engaging product-feature content for blogs, email newsletters, and other customer-facing channels; ability to share sample work is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas concisely, persuasively, and strategically through both written and spoken formats.
  • Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset, thriving in environments without a set playbook and embracing the opportunities and challenges of ambiguity.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks for maximum impact.
  • A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX’s Company Values
  • Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
  • Must be available for travel to a corporate office in Montana quarterly.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
