Senior Associate

New York, N.Y.

ABOUT CIVITAS

Civitas Public Affairs Group, an Orchestra company, is a values-based public affairs firm that delivers winning advocacy campaigns for our clients and the communities they serve. We enlist experts, leverage relationships, and build coalitions to address some of the most pressing political and societal challenges of our day, including climate change, protecting our democracy, reproductive health, and advancing the rights of LGBTQ people.

Our bipartisan firm brings proven experience developing innovative advocacy campaigns to win substantive policy change at the local, state, and national levels. With offices in Boston, New York City, and Washington DC, we work closely with the nation’s leading philanthropists, non-profit organizations, and movements to substantively impact progressive issues and causes.

Some of our current and former clients include the Black Futures Policy Institute, CityHealth, the Collaborative for Gender and Reproductive Equity, Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, Center for Secure and Modern Elections, Inseparable, National Council for Mental Wellbeing, the Pipeline Fund, the Trevor Project, Voices for Healthy Kids, and more.

We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our New York team. This is a hybrid position that requires three days in the office per week and two days of remote work.

Given the firm’s growing portfolio in New York, the ideal candidate will bring direct experience in New York City and/or New York State policy, government, issue, candidate or advocacy campaigns. Familiarity with key New York stakeholders, city and state legislative processes, and an understanding of the broader political landscape across NYC and Albany is strongly valued.

  • Stay up to date on current legislative and regulatory developments, with a keen understanding of New York City and State.
  • Provide project, event, and meeting support along with other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5–7 year’s experience, with a track record of successful execution of public affairs, policy, or electoral campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and client management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, advocacy, and analytic skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Self-starter with ability to take initiative and manage time independently.
  • Strong computer, web, and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Willingness to serve as a team player with high impact and low ego.
