About the Role
As an Associate Engineer in Aircraft Stability and Control, you will support the design, analysis, and testing of aircraft flight dynamics to ensure safe and efficient performance. This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to develop and validate aerodynamic models, flight control systems, and stability characteristics for various aircraft platforms. You will join a team developing the world’s most efficient aircraft. Otto Aviation is seeking a first principles engineer that works great in a team atmosphere and gets things done.
Flight Sciences includes all phases of flight dynamics design and analysis to support configuration development, flight testing, and entry into service. This position encompasses all flight regimes up to and including transonic cruise, approach and landing, and off-design operations. You will also be assisting in the experimental efforts that support validation, database development and optimization of the configuration.
What You’ll Do
- Perform stability and control analyses using computational tools and wind tunnel data.
- Support flight dynamics modeling and simulation for aircraft flight characteristics and performance evaluation.
- Assist in the design and integration of flight control systems.
- Collaborate with aerodynamics, propulsion, and structural teams to ensure cohesive aircraft behavior.
- Participate in flight test planning and data analysis.
- Document technical findings and present results to engineering teams and stakeholders.
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- Strong foundation in flight dynamics, control theory, and aerodynamics.
- Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or CFD software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate technical concepts effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship or project experience in aircraft design or flight simulation.
- Exposure to industry standards and certification processes (e.g., FAA Part23).
- Experience with wind tunnel testing or flight test data analysis.

Where You'll Be
**This role requires 25% travel to our facility at Meacham Airport in Ft Worth, TX, but will transition to full onsite at our new campus in Jacksonville, FL upon facility readiness (flexible 6-12 months).
