Overview
As we scale our global footprint and transition through major corporate milestones, we are looking for a visionary, hands-on VP of Global Tax to lead our tax organization through its next chapter of hyper-growth, public-readiness, and digital transformation.
The VP of Global Tax will be a strategic leader with multinational experience, ASC 740 expertise, and strong crossborder capabilities. Ability to translate complex tax matters into clear, executive level decisions. Ability to take a hands on approach while leading and developing a global tax team with direct involvement in critical deliverables. The VP will serve as the primary interface with external auditors, professional service providers, and tax authorities, effectively leveraging internal and external partners to deliver results with speed, rigor and integrity. You will own the entirety of ŌURA's tax strategy, compliance, reporting, and planning across domestic and international jurisdictions.
Crucially, this is not just a technical role. As we scale from private to public markets, you will champion Tax Transformation, driving the modernization of our global tax technology stack.

Key Responsibilities
1. Day-to-Day Operations
- Lead ŌURA's global tax strategy (income, indirect, transfer pricing, and reporting) and design scalable tax structures to support international expansion and optimize the effective tax rate.
- Direct strategy and compliance for global indirect taxes, including VAT, GST, sales tax, and digital services taxes.
- Collaborate with Product, Supply Chain, Legal, FP&A, and Finance to evaluate tax impacts on new products, pricing, legal entities, and market launches.
- Establish and maintain global transfer pricing policies, intercompany agreements, and compliance documentation.
- Manage external global tax advisors and lead tax audit requests, technical accounting analyses, and auditor relations.
- Track emerging global tax laws to mitigate risk, and present tax strategy, risk assessments, and reporting to executive leadership and the Audit Committee.
2. Enterprise Projects, Transformation & Special Initiatives.
- Partner cross -functionally on enterprise initiatives such as legal entity rationalization, restructurings, systems implementations and integrations, and other tax projects.
- Drive improvements in tax processes to simplify, automate, and improve speed and quality in partnership with Finance and IT teams.
2. Post-IPO Public Compliance
- Own the global tax provision process under US GAAP (ASC 740). Ensure robust Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR / SOX 404) are designed, documented, and operating effectively from day one of being public.
- Act as the primary interface for external auditors and regulators, ensuring efficient quarterly and annual reviews.
4. Tax Planning & Supply Chain Alignment
- Structure and manage ŌURA's international IP allocation and transfer pricing strategies to optimize our global effective tax rate (ETR).
- Assess and structure the tax implications of potential mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, as well as rapid global expansion initiatives.
- Partner with Treasury to design and execute cash repatriation strategies to fund global operations tax-efficiently.
- Lead the defense of all tax audits globally, formulating responses to inquiries from the IRS, state agencies, and foreign tax authorities.
Qualifications
- 20+ years of progressive tax leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a high-growth technology (SaaS + Hardware) environment and multinational organization. Big 4 public accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MST (Master of Science in Taxation), JD, or CPA is strongly preferred.
- Deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and international tax reporting, including tax accounting under US GAAP and ASC 740.
- Demonstrated success leading teams and managing complex cross border issues, audits and external service advisor relationships.
- Strong track record of partnering across functions and supporting executive leadership.
- Experience with financial reporting environments.
- IPO / Public Company Experience: Hands-on experience preparing a company to go public and building out SOX-compliant tax departments.
- Systems Acumen: Direct experience implementing or overseeing integrations of tax technologies.

ŌURA takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
- Base Salary: $270,000 - $300,000
