About Position 

The Credit Risk Compliance Manager will ensure full compliance with Japanese consumer credit regulations, including the Installment Sales Act (割賦販売法), which regulate lending practices and consumer protections. The Credit Risk Compliance Manager will also ensure that credit offerings comply with laws to safeguard customer data and that lending practices are in line with Japanese regulatory guidance.

Key Role and Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will serve as the central compliance and governance resource for the Credit Risk team, acting as the First Line of Defense in Paidy’s Three Line of Defense Model
  • Engagement with Regulatory Bodies: liaising with The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and other regulatory bodies to stay updated on any changes in regulation that might impact  compliance, reputation, credit and other risks.
  • Ensuring compliance with the relevant laws and regulations including Installment Sales Act and fair practices as per guidelines from regulators regarding product development and maintenance.
  • Fraud and Credit Risk Prevention: ensuring that the fraud detection systems are effective in identifying fraudulent credit applications, especially in a BNPL context where quick approvals can create opportunities for fraud.
  • Monitoring data storage status: ensuring the data and documents are properly stored in line with the regulation and guidelines under relevant laws.
  • Collaborating with existing internal fraud  teams to ensure local market best practices are adhered to in addressing risks of identity fraud within the BNPL system.
  • Monitoring Credit Risk Controls: monitoring customer credit exposure and ensuring that credit decisions are made in compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Ensuring robust credit approval processes, and embedding risk controls at the underwriting stage to manage credit limits and payment terms.
  • Information management: Ensure that all credit decisions are documented with the relevant information and securely stored and easily retrieved
  • Credit Renewal: Ensure that the correct credit procedures are followed during contract renewals

Skills and Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in credit risk management, with a strong understanding of credit products and risk assessment.
  • Significant experience with Japanese regulatory frameworks and compliance, including Installment Sales Act, AML and data privacy laws.
  • Proven track record  in first line of defense roles, managing risk controls and aligning operations with organizational risk appetite.
  • Knowledge of the Japanese market and proficiency in Japanese, with native communication skills in Japanese and business level proficiency in English

  1. Acquisition and Purpose of Use

Paidy Inc. (hereinafter the “Company”) acquires from those who desire to apply for employment opportunities of the Company the information capable of identifying the particular individual, such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Such acquisition is for the purpose of use in recruitment activities (such as pre-interview screening process, interviews, assessment, and communication with the applicant), and the Company will not use such information for any other purpose.

  1. Third-Party Provision of Personal Information

Unless otherwise authorized under the applicable law, the Company will not provide any personal information from any applicant to any third party other than the suppliers engaged by the Company for services without the consent of the applicant.

  1. Engagement of Suppliers

The Company may engage third-party suppliers for the provision of services for recruitment activities or whatsoever and provide such suppliers with the acquired personal information. In such event, the Company will enter into a contract with the engaged suppliers and secure the proper management of the personal information.

  1. Security Control

  1. Return and Disposal of Application Documents
