Location

This position will be based in Charlotte, NC (preference) or remotely.

 

Summary of Role

The Senior Product Manager will accelerate the deployment of hundreds of thousands of clean energy assets as Palmetto ushers in the clean energy revolution.  They will drive end-to-end product strategy and execution for a market segment of Palmetto Capital’s clean energy consumer financing Business Unit and have product ownership of key technical components of our origination and servicing platform supporting all our market segments.  This includes developing products, services, and solutions that enable Palmetto to integrate with external platforms to drive growth and seize marketshare, efficiently underwrite and onboard customers to build robust portfolios of energy assets, drive value and satisfaction for our customers, and execute capital market transactions including public market securitizations. Given Palmetto Capital’s growth, rapid diversification, and large market opportunity, this role will require an entrepreneurial mindset with a strong, relentless ability to influence across the organization to get things done. This role reports to the VP of Product of Palmetto Capital and will have direct relationships with business, product, and engineering leaders across the company. 

 

Strategic & Tactical

  • Partner closely with the VP of Product to drive the Palmetto Capital BU forward by identifying, defining, and building meaningful solutions that: 
    • Provide direct customer value and ensure enduring customer satisfaction 
    • Drive growth in our core solar + storage financing products
    • Diversify our financing products into new markets and asset classes 
    • Efficiently scale our platform to drive revenue without commensurate cost 
    • Ensure the quality of our assets and portfolios 
  • Develop the Palmetto Capital product strategy and supporting roadmap in line with the Palmetto Capital BU strategy and Palmetto’s broader company vision.  Develop and be accountable for OKRs that tie your team’s work to measurable outcomes that ladder to key BU and company objectives
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog, partner with engineering to effectively groom stories to ensure planning and execution efficiency and predictable velocity. Measure release impacts and outcomes, evolving product strategy and tactics accordingly. Exercise strong product and business judgment, understanding company and industry context, educating colleagues, and holding a balanced perspective on risks, rewards, and execution
  • Gain a deep understanding of Palmetto Capital’s customer segments (e.g., capital providers, installers, end consumers, etc), their daily lives, needs, opportunities and value drivers through regular research, testing, and analysis.  Constantly integrate learnings into your product strategies. Apply commercial and technical expertise to guide problem definition, scope solutions, and drive decisions
  • Deploy modern product management and development best practices.  Partner closely with engineering, data, and design to create systems and team muscle memory that enable ample discovery, strong problem definition and opportunity mapping, rapid concept testing and validation, outcome-based and iterative delivery, and metricing and learning. 
  • Forge strong bonds with key internal business stakeholders (operations, business development, servicing, etc) and technology partners (Business Systems, Platform, Data, Devices, Asset Management, Consumer, etc) to formulate new, innovative ideas to enhance our platform and coordinate and enable solutions across multiple systems and segments.  Work closely with external partners (e.g., capital providers, integrated sales and design platforms, installers, service providers, vendors, etc.) to understand and support their needs
  • Embrace and leverage the transformative power of AI to drive faster discovery and learning cycles, higher team productivity and output, and more efficient use of talent, data, and the platform
  • Take advantage of the opportunity to drive and define the products for a rapidly growing business unit at Palmetto. Drive outcomes that prove the need for incremental investment and growth

 

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience in product management, with a focus on consumer finance origination and servicing, capital markets, asset management, servicing, credit and risk management, or similar fields. Experience in the home improvement, solar or similar consumer finance industries and / or in a high-growth startup or scaling a product portfolio is highly preferred
  • Previous experience owning a product roadmap, leading sprint activities, and shipping features with little to no supervision
  • Strong skills with platform workflows, decisioning, and integrations with external 3rd parties and point source solutions
  • Customer and market focus. Relentless desire to learn more about our customers - their daily lives, the problems they face, where value resides
  • Proven ability to inspire and rally a team around a clear vision, strategy and roadmap; Strong leadership skills rooted in high EQ, curiosity and clear communication
  • Highly skilled at working across multiple teams to get things done. Strong influencer with the ability to drive action and prioritization for dotted-line teams. 
  • Iterative testing experience. Deep experience with impactful and rapid experimentation paired with holistic long-term product thinking. Proven ability to use unsuccessful experiments and launches to iterate towards success
  • Analytical and metrics orientation. High level of fluency and comfort with data, user insights, and statistical analyses.  Ability to define and connect metrics to product strategies, the stories we tell, and decision making. Predisposition to go get the data even when it isn’t readily available
  • Bias toward action; master disambiguator/simplifier; constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery; Ability to roll up sleeves and tackle something hands-on
  • Entrepreneur mindset comfortable starting at zero and building something special from scratch
