Senior Software Engineer, AI & Data Platform

Hybrid; Remote

About Panasonic Well:

Panasonic Well is a venture and business incubator from the Panasonic Group focused on pioneering new health and wellness solutions by connecting hardware, software and services through industry-leading, responsible AI. We are committed to building an ecosystem of technology that improves well-being for every generation.

Panasonic Well operates in the US as Panasonic Well LLC and in Japan as a division of Panasonic Holdings Corporation.

About The Role:

As a Senior Software Engineer on our AI and Data Platform team, you will build the frameworks and tools that empower AI Engineers across Panasonic Well to develop, test, and improve production-grade AI systems with confidence and speed. You will own the development of our evaluation capabilities while contributing meaningfully across our broader platform, including the central UI for AI system management.

Working at the forefront of AI evaluation, you will integrate emerging techniques from a rapidly evolving field to enable engineers and product managers to understand and improve models, agents, and multi-agent systems. In a collaborative environment that values experimentation, you will design scalable solutions that support diverse AI use cases in the health and wellness domain.

A typical project might involve extending our frameworks to support a new evaluation methodology, working cross-functionally to define requirements and iterating based on user feedback. You'll contribute across the full stack, connecting evaluation insights to our unified development environment where users can create, test, refine, and manage their AI solutions.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Own the design, development, and deployment of evaluation frameworks that support traditional ML models, generative AI, and multi-agent systems
  • Build platform tools and APIs that enable experimentation and iteration for AI system development
  • Collaborate with internal platform users (AI engineers, conversational designers, and product managers) to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Contribute to our central UI platform, connecting evaluation insights to user workflows
  • Engage in a flexible, collaborative working environment, with opportunities to influence the long-term technical vision of projects.
  • Work with AI & Data Engineering teams to integrate evaluation capabilities with existing platform
  • Contribute to all phases of software development including ideation, prototyping, design and production.
  • Implement privacy-by-design principles across all platform systems
  • Own platform components from concept to production, including ongoing maintenance and optimization
  • Stay current with emerging AI evaluation techniques and incorporate them into platform capabilities
  • Be part of a team that values agility, resourcefulness, and collaboration across project boundaries

What You'll Bring:

  • 4+ years of platform engineering, backend development, or related technical experience
  • Proven experience building and maintaining reliable, production-grade systems in a collaborative team setting
  • Strong backend engineering experience including RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
  • Strong programming skills in Python with production experience
  • Comfortable working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure)
  • Experience with scalable system design and distributed systems concepts
  • Exposure to machine learning workflows and concepts
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to be self-guided and come up with technical approaches even with limited requirements
  • Experience taking projects from concept through production deployment
  • You're excited to collaborate closely with talented partners in Product, AI, and Design. You enjoy solving problems with a cross-functional team and sharing knowledge
  • You enjoy solving technical challenges in a straightforward and maintainable way. You avoid introducing complex, novel, or "clever" solutions. You write code for humans, not for computers
  • You have an empathetic mindset (for our users and the rest of our team), the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, and a willingness and desire to learn

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with FastAPI, Next.js, or React
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of ML evaluation, testing, or model validation frameworks
  • Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment and monitoring systems
  • Understanding of data privacy principles and regulations
  • Background in healthcare, wellness, or consumer technology domains
  • Experience with distributed systems and compute-intensive workloads
  • Experience building internal platforms or technical tools

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
