DnA Overview

The Data and Analytics (DnA) brings together Pantheon’s Data Integrity and Portfolio Analytics teams. DnA plays a critical role in supporting key functions across the organization, including Investment, Investor Relations (IR), Core Portfolio Management (Core PM), and Fund Finance. At its core, the DnA team plays a foundational role in Pantheon’s data ecosystem, ensuring accurate ingestion and integrity of Pantheon’s core data—including client, managed fund, deal, investment, and asset data. This disciplined approach to data stewardship powers actionable portfolio analytics that are essential to: 

  • Enhancing the investment decision-making process
  • Improving transparency and engagement with clients
  • Enabling data-driven portfolio and financial oversight

By centralizing and reinforcing data governance and analytical capabilities, DnA serves as a strategic enabler, delivering insights that drive performance and operational excellence across the investment lifecycle.

Purpose of Position

This Senior Associate will join DnA's Portfolio Analytics team to support the wider Pantheon organisation in injecting analytics into all aspects of the investment lifecycle. Within Portfolio Analytics, Pantheon’s Performance Analytics group is responsible for providing insightful performance data covering our entire family of funds, strategies, and products, such as calculating the firm’s global performance track record across Private Equity, Real Assets and Private Credit.

The position is for a Senior Associate to join our existing team (4 members in London, 2 in New York, 1 in Singapore) and will be based in our London office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production and oversight of quarterly performance track records for Pantheon’s products and strategies covering Private Equity, Real Assets and Private Credit.
  • Independently execute on strategic projects and provide support to the wider team to meet long-term deliverables
  • Respond to ad hoc performance requests from internal teams, and indirectly to client/consultant queries in collaboration with Investor Relations and Product Strategy teams.
  • Cultivate partnerships with Pantheon’s investment & risk professionals as well as with engineers and BI specialists to continuously innovate Pantheon’s performance analytics product
  • Directly manage and indirectly provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the global team
  • Provide guidance and justification for any changes to existing performance calculation methodologies or new analytics, ensuring proper sign-off from senior stakeholders and implementation across partner groups
  • Design and implement improvements to the quality and timeliness of underling data feed and analytics deliveries, as well as robust controls on the process.
  • Collaborate with Core Portfolio Management and the Product Strategy team to produce insightful performance analytics that can be used externally for marketing/fundraising purposes.
  • Represent the Performance team in meetings with key stakeholders across the firm
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory needs, vendor offerings, and investment team feedback to guide performance analytics and insights into Pantheon’s portfolios to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and Pantheon policy (including reporting compliance risks and maintaining appropriate standards of conduct)

Knowledge & Experience Required 

Essential background and skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Strong experience in managing partnerships with investment and risk professionals including collaborating on topics such as performance analytics, pricing models, cash flow projections, pipeline analytics, portfolio company monitoring
  • Experience working with private markets, with an emphasis on Fund of Fund private markets (including private equity, infrastructure and private debt) valuations techniques, accounting and data reporting
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to work under deadlines
  • Ability to deliver analytics within a framework of defined methodologies and procedures
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to traverse datasets and convert these into impactful insights
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft suite of tools such as Excel, Power Query, and Power BI to derive insightful analytics from data (or similar tools)

Preferred (but not essential) experience:

  • Team management experience
  • Knowledge of data governance principles, data controls best practices, metadata management, and data lineage tools
  • Experience in using a diverse analytics toolkit such as SQL, Python or other data manipulation & visualization tooling
  • Understanding of ETL processes and cloud warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)

Preferred (additional) background and skillset:

  • Experience working in financial services, preferably in private markets especially fund of funds structure
  • Understanding of ETL processes and cloud warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
