The Opportunity:
The mission of the Print & Engraving Machine Operator is to support the Print & Engraving Team Lead creating best in market finished goods in our Kelowna Sustainability Studio. The person in this position will excel at running engraving and colour printing machines while monitoring machine performance, executing custom case projects and collaborating on new production processes. Maximizing decoration capacity and improving fulfillment times will be the core focus, allowing Pela to execute timely launches.
This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment of continuous improvement and problem-solving. Teamwork and adaptability will be critical to success. Meeting targets and delivering on promises nurtures your soul.
Responsibilities:
- Design and create jigs to increase production capabilities
- Ensure that new designs are ready for production by launch date
- Receive AOD stock from injection mold operators
- Develop Quality Assurance and Quality Control techniques to ensure high quality products are delivered to our customers.
- Carry out production, inspection, packaging and machine operation duties.
- Sets up and operates the Epilog laser machines and Mimaki colour printers, decorating eco friendly, compostable products
- Prepare and coordinate art files using CorelDRAW/Adobe Illustrator using established templates and ensuring production standards are followed
- Loads & unload jigs in a timely fashion to maximize throughput
- Remove finished product from the machine, checking each for quality
- Package final product for shipping
- Coordinate and perform machine cleaning & maintenance procedures
- Maintain a maintenance schedule and log
- Assist in troubleshooting machine performance issues to decrease downtime and mitigate production risk
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace
- Follow established safety rules and regulations
- Assist others as necessary
Qualifications & Skills:
- Computer proficiency
- Adobe Illustrator, or graphic design experience is necessary
- Laser engraving and commercial printing experience desirable
- Design, electronic, and mechanical aptitude desirable
- Knowledge of systems and processes in a manufacturing setting
- Enjoys a busy day in a shop/production environment
- Ability to learn procedures quickly with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a loud environment, lift 40 lbs periodically and stand for a 8-hour shift.

- Shifts Available 5 days per week 7:00am - 3:00pm, or 2:30pm-10:30pm Monday - Sun (some flexibility/fluctuations may occur)
