The Role
We're looking for a meticulous and employee-focused Payroll & Benefits Specialist to help us deliver a seamless, high-impact employee experience. If you love getting the numbers right, supporting employees with clarity and care, and improving processes along the way, this role is for you.
You’ll own the day-to-day execution of our multi-state payroll and benefits operations, ensuring every paycheck is accurate, every question gets a thoughtful response, and every system runs smoothly. You’ll also play a key role in improving the tools and workflows that power our People Operations by creating complex processes that feel simple and scalable. What You'll Do
- Process accurate payroll—keeping data clean, deductions accurate, and timelines on track
- Administer benefits with precision; ensuring smooth enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Act as the primary point of contact for all employee inquiries related to pay, benefits, and taxes
- Partner with Finance to deliver clean, timely reporting and support reconciliations and audits
- Stay on top of payroll and benefits compliance, ensuring accurate filings and solid documentation
- Improve how we work by streamlining workflows, automating tasks, and optimizing our systems
What We Look For
- 2+ years of payroll and/or benefits administration experience
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll and relevant wage/tax laws
- Experience using HRIS systems like Rippling, ADP, Paycom, or similar platforms
- A knack for troubleshooting and resolving issues quickly and accurately
- A high bar for data integrity, confidentiality, and employee trust
- Strong organizational skills and an eye for improving processes over time
- Minimum requirement: Associate's degree or equivalent experience
- Located in San Francisco, California, and willing to come into the office on a hybrid basis
Salary Range: $105,000 - $135,000 Annually + Benefits + Equity (if applicable) + Bonus (if applicable)
