Summary:
The Biospecimen Management Supervisor oversees the Accessioning and Biobank Teams within the Biospecimen Management department. This team supports laboratory operations through sample intake, accessioning, storage, returns, and destruction, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and utilizing Personalis’ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and related software.
Responsibilities:
- Review daily incoming specimens (blood, plasma, tissue) to ensure they meet testing requirements.
- Label specimens with unique lab IDs and keep accurate inventory records.
- Handle client requests to return or dispose of specimens promptly.
- Prepare and ship specimens to designated client testing sites.
- Enter test results and sample information into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Collaborate with the Lab Processing Team to support overall lab operations.
- Participate in team projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science preferred with 0-4 years experience
- Passion for science and an interest in supporting meaningful laboratory work.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy when handling and labeling specimens.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage inventory and maintain clear records.
- Positive team player with a collaborative attitude and willingness to support others.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to follow standard procedures.
- Prior experience in retail, warehouse, or other fast-paced environments is a plus.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems like LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Dependable, adaptable, and eager to learn and contribute to a mission-driven team.
The hiring range for this position is $20 to $27 per hour.
