Business Development Application Engineer - Power Reliability
Job Summary
The Business Development Application Engineer (BDAE) will provide technical, hands-on expertise to support new business opportunities for all Phoenix Contact products directly associated with the protection, conversion, distribution, and monitoring of power circuits primarily used within an industrial control cabinet. The BDAE will collaborate with regional sales managers, field sales engineers and channel partners to develop customer relationships. The BDAE will utilize a consultative approach with all customers to support their individual needs and expand market penetration.
Key Responsibilities
- Increase annual sales revenue across all products directly associated with the protection, conversion, distribution, and monitoring of power circuits at targeted accounts. These products include, but are not limited to power supplies, batteries, circuit breakers, surge suppression devices, current transformers, and energy monitors.
- Work in coordination with local Phoenix Contact sales engineers utilizing joint sales activities, trainings, and mutual action plans to advance the sales of above-mentioned products.
- Act as the local technical representative for the above-mentioned products and support local account managers in power-related technical matters.
- Act as the regional marketing specialist developing sales tools, collateral and driving campaigns.
- Serve as the “voice of the customer” providing insight for expansion of product lines or new focus industries
- Meet/exceed sales growth objectives as established by Power Supply Product Marketing Manager.
- Where applicable, work with Key Account Management and Phoenix Contact Product Marketing to implement global/national account strategies in order to achieve program objectives.
- Drive value-added power solutions
- Be proficient in R3/BASE selling skills and implement to build strong customer relationships.
- Utilize CRM as the primary customer planning, reporting, measurement, and opportunity tracking tool.
- Be proficient in and drive the use of all sales tools provided to support the relevant markets.
- Active involvement with distributors, customer events and Phoenix Contact Corporate events.
- Demonstrate technical competence on all products/solutions within area of focus.
- Maintain all corporate policies, procedures, and programs including quotations, lead follow-up, and timely reporting.
- Readily handle change through taking advantage of lifelong learning opportunities and being open minded and curious in the face of new challenges.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical discipline.
- Two years previous sales or marketing experience with electrical/electronic products.
- Ability to work independently from home office and communicate effectively with colleagues with limited supervision.
Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to travel via airplane.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate an automobile for up to six hours at a time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. (sample, demos, literature)
- Must be able to travel overnight 60% + or as required.
- Comply with company dress code guidelines.
- Punctuality in all aspect is required.
