Director, Business Development – Hubs

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Director – Hubs (BDD-H) to lead our Hub-based Application & Engineered Projects (AEP) initiatives. This role is responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and strategic alignment across multiple regional Hubs. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with a strong background in business development, sales enablement, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Level 3 Hub Leaders across all regional Hubs, fostering leadership capability and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Align Hub strategies with Industry Managers and broader segment objectives to drive cohesive execution and market responsiveness.
  • Monitor and drive growth in the AEP pipeline, ensuring increased pursuit velocity and profitability across all Hubs.
    • AEP (Applications and Engineered Projects) is a customer-focused, cross-domain pursuit where Phoenix Contact brings together products, expertise, and partners to deliver engineered outcomes tailored to solving customer’s business drivers.
  • Ensure consistent deployment of enablement tools, processes, and best practices to support scalable and repeatable success across regions.
  • Collaborate closely with regional sales leadership and SE Regional teams to support national growth initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Utilize strategic forecasting and planning tools, CRM insights, and pursuit tracking systems to inform decision-making and optimize performance.
  • Apply segment strategy playbooks and enablement decks to guide Hub teams in executing against defined goals and metrics.
  • Engage regularly with Hub Leaders (L3), Industry Managers (L4), Business Development and Field Application Engineers (L4), and Regional Sales Leadership (L1) to ensure cross-functional alignment and accountability.
  • Contribute to shaping the national growth strategy by leading high-impact initiatives that drive business performance and market expansion.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on excellence, continuous improvement, and shared success.
  • Actively engage in professional development opportunities and support initiatives that enhance employee experience, compensation competitiveness, and career growth.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, or strategic operations.
  • Proven success in leading cross-regional teams and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of engineered solutions and application-based selling.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and sales enablement tools.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with others, build relationships, and involve others in decision making.
  • Demonstrates the ability to deliver results by solving or supporting others in solving problems, prioritizing tasks, and/or resources, and focusing on outcomes.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and adapt strategies, communicate convincingly, and regularly track how strategies have been achieved.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop people and teams by providing suitable developmental opportunities, delegating work, and building effective teams.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness and the willingness to learn and grow, accept changes, and effectively adapt to changing work demands.
