Manufacturing Engineer Technician I
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer Technician I supports engineering and production teams by assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of manufacturing processes and equipment. The technician contributes to production performance, equipment support, and documentation, working closely with Engineering and Quality teams to meet production targets and ensure customer satisfaction. This role is essential to maintaining efficient, safe, and high-quality production of electronic components. This position is an individual contributor role and does not include formal people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing production equipment.
- Support machine enhancements and development in coordination with Engineering.
- Aid in the design and testing of manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Use CAD software to assist in tooling and test system design.
- Help coordinate purchases with suppliers for tooling and test systems.
- Maintain and calibrate production machinery including CNC machines, PLCs, and automated tools.
- Support process validation and equipment qualification activities.
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Assist in modifying tooling, fixtures, and procedures for manufacturability.
- Conduct basic time studies and data collection for lean initiatives.
- Help create and maintain manufacturing documentation (SOPs, work instructions, change orders).
- Ensure compliance with ISO, GMP, OSHA, and ESD standards.
- Support audits and inspections with accurate documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and production.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 0–3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience with PC and Windows-based software.
- Exposure to engineering drawings and CAD tools (2D/3D).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow professionally.
Essential Job Functions
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Able to use pallet jack with 300-pound load.
- Able to use portable staircase and climb to 12-foot heights.
- Able to carry 20 pound/ 3 cubic feet boxes up and down portable staircase.
- Able to push a 4-wheeled cart with a 100-pound load.
- Able to work a 6-day week, if required.
- Able to stand or sit continually for four hours without a break.
- Regular and on-time attendance.
