Product Manager, Insurance
The Product Manager is responsible for supporting performance and strategy across assigned product lines, focusing on product management, underwriting improvements, regulatory compliance, and distribution with a data-driven approach to measure efficiency and profitability. In this role, you’ll collaborate with the Pricing & Analytics team to establish competitive market rates, leverage industry tools for ongoing product enhancements, and partner with the Compliance and Legal team to align products with state-specific regulations. Working with the Business Development, Technology, and Field Underwriting teams, you’ll support the development of systems and tools for a seamless customer and agent experience. Your advanced analytical skills, data management expertise, and ability to build partnerships across departments will help drive Pie’s success. How You’ll Do It
- Product & Pricing
- Collaborate with the Pricing & Analytics team to establish competitive market rates and pricing structures.
- Apply a systematic, data-driven approach to optimize underwriting automation and increase efficiency throughout the submission and policy lifecycle.
- Leverage industry tools and resources to drive ongoing enhancement and growth within the product line.
- Conduct research to identify growth opportunities in new or underserved markets.
- Assess and adjust the underwriting appetite and insurance products to continually improve performance, profitability, and partner experience.
- Compliance
- Collaborate with the Compliance and Legal teams to ensure that all filed and implemented insurance products, including forms, rules, and rating plans, meet state-specific requirements.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to create and file new programs and coverage options with individual states.
- Work with the Field Underwriting team to design and improve tools that support field underwriting activities.
- Systems & Technology
- Collaborate with the Technology team to advance and refine Pie’s systems for both internal and external users.
- Support the continuous development of rating and policy management systems by working with Engineering and Product teams to create tools that meet business needs.
- Manage the implementation of approved rate, rule, and form changes within the policy management system.
The Right Stuff
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, with some college coursework required.
- CPCU or CIC Certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in underwriting or 3 years commercial lines product management experience.
- Knowledgeable in commercial insurance product development and underwriting, commercial auto or worker’s compensation experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Advanced data management and manipulation skills, particularly in Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities to work on mission-critical and complex issues, requiring evaluation of intangible factors.
- Decision-making skills and results-driven mindset that will enable you to thrive in an agile, high-growth environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing projects in ambiguous environments while meeting deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of various distribution channels (direct to business lines, independent agents), including process dynamics and economic metrics.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels across the organization and with key external partners.
Base Compensation Range
$100,000 - $125,000 USD

Unless otherwise specified, this role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver office and from home.
