About the Role:

PitchBook’s Dataset Team Lead manages a team of Data Operations Associates, Sr. Associates, and Leads. They work to improve and validate the data being utilized in the PitchBook Platform. The Dataset Team Lead is responsible for the operations of specific datasets, ensuring the data meets PitchBook’s high quality standards while continually increasing the efficiency, productivity, and data integrity of their team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and drive the operations of a team to continuously improve the quality and quantity of data in the PitchBook platform
  • Ensure all new team members are successfully onboarded
  • Maintain a regular cadence of 1:1s with each team member to recap performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support career development
  • Be the authoritative point person on your dataset; demonstrating exceptional knowledge of PitchBook products, our industry, and client base
  • Responsible for compiling market intelligence on the competitive position of all datasets under your purview and driving internal communication of those findings throughout the organization
  • Gather team feedback and utilize PowerBI reports to identify root causes of systemic data problems and drive operational, methodology, and Database optimization
  • Work closely with our Data Operations team in Mumbai, London, New York and Seattle coordinating workflow operations for all datasets under your purview to ensure SLAs and KPIs are met across all processes
  • Partner with your Operations Manager to provide support, communication, and updates for all datasets under your purview across PitchBook departments
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge in one of PitchBook’s core research areas of private equity, venture capital, M&A, or institutional investors by researching, collecting, and entering data for all datasets under your purview into the Research Tool Suite (RTS)
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of relevant research processes, training materials, methodologies, and Research Tool Suite tool changes
  • Participate in recruiting and hiring efforts, including phone screens and on-site interviews
  • Leverage our in-house database, business intelligence reports, and other technology-based tools to ensure that proprietary data is audited and added to the PitchBook Platform efficiently while adhering to complex research tracking methodologies to ensure that data is of the utmost quality
  • Responsible for maintaining a standardized monthly/quarterly business review for all datasets under your purview
  • Roll out methodology updates and process changes/improvements with necessary documentation
  • Provide training and ramping support to new members of the team, both locally and abroad
  • Maintain accountability for the client request pipeline for all datasets under your purview
  • Regularly collaborate with the broader organization to develop and improve processes, tools, and methodologies, identifying and driving opportunities to improve upon the core quality metrics (comprehensiveness, accuracy, and timeliness)
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with your team and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, address roadblocks, and celebrate wins
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors 
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of previous experience in operations, program, or process management
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support and mentor junior team members
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills; comfortable to engage a diverse array of audiences
  • Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency and deliver results
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented attitude and can work effectively as an individual or as part of a team
  • Ability to interface with clients to support our Sales and Customer Success teams as needed
  • Interest in financial markets or services, particularly private equity and venture capital
  • Analytical and process-oriented with a dedication to continuous improvement
  • Ability to problem solve and use judgment to make decisions within ambiguous research situations
  • Approach each task with an entrepreneurial spirit and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Working Conditions:

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it’s helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
