Manager, Strategic Sourcing

The role 

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing is responsible for leading global sourcing strategies for raw materials and packaging to ensure cost efficiency, quality, supply reliability, and business profitability. This role drives supplier performance, negotiates cost-saving initiatives, manages forecasting and budgeting activities, and supports operational and financial goals through strategic procurement practices.

The position collaborates cross-functionally with Quality, Legal, Finance, Operations, and Contract Manufacturers to ensure compliance, supplier effectiveness, and successful product support. The role also focuses on process improvement, purchasing system enhancements, supplier relationship management, and market intelligence to identify innovation and sourcing opportunities.

Success in this role requires strong analytical, negotiation, supplier management, and project leadership skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment. Travel, industry networking, and occasional off-hours support are expected as part of maintaining strategic supplier partnerships and business continuity.

Performance Accountabilities 

  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies that reduce raw material, packaging, and logistics costs while maintaining quality and supply continuity.
  • Deliver measurable annual cost savings that positively contribute to EBITDA and overall business profitability.
  • Identify and implement supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing, and negotiation opportunities to optimize total delivered cost.
  • Ensure suppliers consistently meet volume, quality, service, compliance, and delivery expectations.
  • Partner with Quality and Legal teams to ensure all materials, packaging, suppliers, and logistics methods comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and pre-screen new raw materials and packaging solutions for innovation, quality, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop accurate raw material and packaging cost assumptions to support annual budgeting and monthly financial forecasting.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to proactively manage risk and forecast variances.
  • Provide timely reporting and recommendations to support business financial objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for purchasing processes, sourcing systems, and performance reporting tools.
  • Enhance procurement reporting accuracy, efficiency, and visibility for leadership decision-making.
  • Standardize sourcing and supplier management practices across global operations where applicable.
  • Collaborate effectively with Contract Manufacturers, Operations, Quality, R&D, Legal, and Finance teams to support new product launches and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support supplier contract development, negotiations, and execution in partnership with Legal.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure sourcing strategies align with business goals and operational needs.
  • Build and maintain strong strategic supplier relationships to improve service, innovation, and long-term value.
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and supplier meetings to identify new sourcing opportunities and maintain market awareness.
  • Expand supplier network and sourcing capabilities to support business growth and innovation initiatives.
  • Demonstrate responsiveness and adaptability in supporting business needs outside standard business hours when required.
  • Effectively manage multiple sourcing projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and performance expectations.

Performance Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or contract manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5 years of sourcing or contract manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in leadership roles.
  • Strong network and established relationships with raw material and packaging suppliers.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive sourcing strategies that support business goals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams while meeting individual objectives.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and suppliers at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate challenges, mitigate risks, and proactively solve problems.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced business environments.
  • Skilled in supplier negotiations, relationship management, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Operations, Finance, Quality, Legal, and Contract Manufacturing teams.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to build positive relationships that create strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Experience supporting sourcing initiatives within manufacturing, consumer products, or direct selling organizations preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to deliver projects successfully within timelines and performance expectations.
