About the Role

In order for the global energy system to make the transition from a carbon-based grid, to a renewable energy grid, large scale energy storage must be introduced into the electricity system to balance intra-hour supply and demand. Energy storage is the enabler of high penetration variable renewable generation like solar and wind.
We are looking for a Manager/Senior Manager to join the Asset Management Team. This qualified individual would work under the guidance of the Senior Director of Grid Integration to provide development and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs across corporate offices and field sites. This is a critical lead contributor role with responsibility to assist with building, implementing and enforcing an effective Environmental, Health and Safety Program.
Plus Power has projects actively in operation across North America, this role will require travel both to Plus's corporate offices, as well as to various project sites, occasionally at short notice due to any incidents. The applicant should expect travel to total approximately 25% of their time on average.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and manage environmental, health and safety programs and policies for the total organization.
- Keep fully informed on existing and proposed changes in OSHA regulations, protective equipment requirements and permit requirements.
- Review and incorporate, as appropriate, safety and health standards originated by OSHA and other applicable and relevant standards
- Conduct audits of environmental, health and safety programs and identifies exposures.
- Conduct investigations of incidents.
- Evaluate performance of program activities and provide summary report to management
- Develop and implement record keeping and investigation procedures for occupational injuries and illness.
- Develop and conduct emergency preparedness and safety training programs, including certification training.
- Make recommendations and presentations to management based on accepted safety methodology
Qualifications
- Minimum BA/BS in a safety, electrical operations or renewable energy operations degree
- Minimum of 6+ years of work and management experience with EH&S functions within an energy company
- Ability to explain complex technical analysis in a simplified matter to the internal management team and/or external parties
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a cross-functional environment with both technical and non-technical team members
- Intimate knowledge of EH&S issues pertaining to the various power and utility markets
- Strong knowledge of North American power markets including regional differences
- OSHA 30 certification or higher (trainer certification a plus)
- Emergency Response Certification and training
- Experienced in leading teams through complex risk and hazard analysis
- Familiarity with Energy Storage Systems and li-ion battery-based hazards a plus
- Strong presentation and writing skills
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Power Point
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Compensation, Location, and Benefits
Highly competitive total compensation from one of North America’s leading energy storage developers, owners and operators. Flexible, work from home or hybrid work from Plus Power’s offices in San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, and Palm Beach.
The expected salary range* for this position begins at $150,000. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual bonus program.
