Job Summary: Provides front-line legal advice and counsel in support of the company’s Marketing and Merchandise Licensing activities

What you’ll do
-
Provide front-line legal support to Marketing and Merchandise Licensing teams in a commercially pragmatic and collaborative fashion.

Own triage and intake for routine marketing legal requests, including prioritization, queue management, and clear communication around turnaround expectations.

Conduct first-pass legal review of standard marketing assets and related materials, including social, web, CRM, paid media, promotional, and influencer materials, using approved playbooks, templates, and guidance.

Research and interpret applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance, including in the areas of advertising, promotions, consumer protection, intellectual property, and endorsements, to support informed business decisions and reduce risk.

Prepare, review, and negotiate routine agreements, terms, releases, and other legal documents in support of marketing and merchandise licensing initiatives.

Create, maintain, and improve templates, playbooks, disclaimer libraries, checklists, knowledge articles, and other scalable tools that support efficient and consistent legal review.

Partner closely with Brand, PR, Social, and other cross-functional teams to coordinate edits, manage version control, and keep matters moving efficiently.

Support routine trainings, office hours, and other enablement efforts for business stakeholders.

Escalate matters involving novel claims, elevated regulatory or consumer risk, non-standard partnerships, policy exceptions, or other higher-risk issues, as appropriate.

May coordinate with outside counsel on matters requiring specialized legal input.
What you’ll bring
- Three (3) to four (4) years of relevant professional experience or a demonstrated equivalent level of expertise.
- J.D. from an accredited law school or equivalent legal education.
- Bar license in good standing in Washington state or another jurisdiction. If not currently admitted to practice in Washington, must successfully register with the Washington State Bar upon hire.

Bachelor's degree in a related field or a demonstrated equivalent level of applicable experience.

Strong experience providing practical legal support for marketing, advertising, promotional, digital, and/or influencer-related matters.

Exceptional drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a collaborative, efficient, and thoughtful manner across cross functional teams.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain practical templates, guidance, and processes that streamline legal support and improve clarity for business teams.

Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to manage a high volume of matters with good prioritization and responsiveness.

In-house legal experience with a company in interactive entertainment, consumer products, media, or a similarly regulated marketing environment is a plus.

Experience working with multinational teams and facilitating cross-cultural communications is a plus.
Base Salary Range: For this role, new hires generally start between $99,000.00 to $129,000.00 per year. The full range is $99,000.00 to $173,000.00 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
