Your North Star: Deliver impactful regulatory guidance to enable Pomelo’s business growth and operations in collaboration with the Head of Legal and business leaders across the organization.
We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated healthcare attorney to join our growing team. This role involves supporting a wide range of healthcare regulatory initiatives, and the opportunity to work closely with various teams across the organization. The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, strong legal acumen, and a strategic approach to navigating the intricacies of the regulatory environment.
Who You Are
- You have a Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA accredited law school and are licensed to practice in at least one state.
- You have a minimum 5 years legal experience. Experience in a law firm setting with a focus on healthcare is required. In-house experience is strongly preferred.
- You have a strong understanding of and experience with applicable federal and state healthcare regulations, including telehealth regulations, laws such as AKS, FCA and other fraud and abuse laws, CPOM, scope of practice rules, and Medicaid reimbursement rules.
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively managing cross-functional projects and business priorities. The ability to establish a rapport and working relationship with business leaders is paramount.
- You have meticulous attention to detail and are comfortable working with ambiguity.
- You are able to take complex topics and distill them into easy to understand guidelines.
- You have the ability to manage shifting priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- You are passionate about maternal and child health.
Bonus Points If
- You have experience as an in-house attorney with an early stage healthcare company.
- You can advise on a broad range of privacy rules and regulations, including HIPAA and various state laws.
- You have familiarity with healthcare marketing rules.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. Given that this role is open to candidates of different skill levels, determining a salary range is challenging. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $180,000 - $210,000. We expect most candidates to fall in the middle of the range. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
