Software Engineer, Care Delivery (All Levels)
About us
Pomelo Care is the national leader in evidence-based healthcare for women and children. We deliver personalized, high-quality clinical interventions from reproductive care and pregnancy, infant care and pediatrics, to hormonal health through perimenopause and menopause, with long-term preventive care and condition management. Our model delivers 24/7 multispecialty care to address the medical, behavioral, and social factors that most significantly impact outcomes for women and children. We partner with payers, employers, and providers to expand access to quality healthcare across the system.
Our engineering team is the engine behind our virtual care platform, building AI-powered solutions that transform care delivery and create exceptional experiences for both patients and clinicians. If you're passionate about using technology to do real, tangible good in the world, we'd love to meet you.
We are a remote-first company with offices in New York and San Francisco. Our New York office has a strong in-person culture with regular collaboration, and our San Francisco office is available for those who enjoy working together in person.
Why This Role Matters
You ship something and clinicians use it that same day. The feedback loop is immediate and the impact is real. You're building AI-powered tools in a live clinical environment with an integrated stack, an in-house clinical team, and real patient data at scale. The Care Delivery team builds the tools that clinicians rely on every day to deliver better, faster, more personalized care.
What You'll Do
- Build AI-powered tools and agents that help clinicians deliver higher-quality, more timely care at the point of interaction
- Surface the right context at the right time so clinicians spend less time on chart review and more time actually helping patients
- Ship features into production clinical workflows that are used daily
- Own end-to-end product areas across the clinician portal, care intelligence platform, and AI-assisted workflows
- Work closely with our clinical team to understand their needs and iterate quickly on solutions
Problems You'll Dig Into
- How do we surface the right context to the right clinician at the right time without overwhelming them?
- How do we turn heterogeneous clinical data into actionable recommendations that clinicians actually trust?
- How do we keep a persistent, continuously updated view of each patient across a longitudinal care journey?
- How do we build AI-native clinical tools that extend what clinicians can do rather than replace their judgment?
Tech Stack
Python + Kotlin backend (gRPC), React/TypeScript (Next.js) frontend, Spanner, BigQuery. LLMs including Claude, Gemini, and others.
Who You Are
- You have a strong foundation in computer science, typically from a bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent professional experience
- You have experience building and shipping high-quality software, and you care about the people who use what you build
- You're excited about working with LLMs and AI in a real production environment, not just demos
- You're comfortable across the full stack and can move between frontend, backend, and data concerns
- You're keeping up with trends in LLM coding agents to multiply your engineering impact
- You enjoy working closely with end users (in this case, clinicians) and iterating based on their feedback
We'll be especially excited if you:
- Have experience building tools for clinicians, healthcare workers, or other professional workflows
- Have worked with LLMs in production, including prompt engineering, evaluation, or agent architectures
- Have experience with clinical data or healthcare systems
- Have previously worked in a fast-paced, product-oriented environment
