Staff Accountant, Corporate (Hybrid)

Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Corporate Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will support core accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset and prepaid accounting, and monthly close activities using Sage Intacct. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accrual accounting and experience managing fixed asset ledgers, depreciation schedules, and audit support. This is a hands-on role that requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

This position is hybrid and will be located in one of our Centers of Excellence: New Orleans, LA; Houston, TX; Salt Lake City, UT; Denver, CO.


Essential Job Functions 

  • Prepare and post journal entries for assigned accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and follow up on variances.
  • Assist in timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support the preparation of the monthly internal management reporting package and other ad hoc financial reports.
  • Conduct spot audits to assess internal control effectiveness across key processes.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for owned processes.
  • Maintain and manage the fixed asset subledger, including asset additions, transfers, disposals, and monthly depreciation calculations.
  • Prepare and maintain fixed asset roll-forward schedules for non-fund entities.
  • Review asset entries for accuracy and completeness; ensure proper classification and capitalization in line with accounting standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile prepaid asset schedules to support related journal entries.
  • Respond to audit inquiries related to fixed assets and other account areas by providing appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • 2-4  years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP/accounting systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word required; experience with Google Workspace preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, time management, and a strong sense of urgency.

 

Physical Demands

The physical requirements outlined are essential for performing the core duties of this role.

  • Primary responsibilities involve regular speaking, listening, standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel objects, and reaching with arms.
  • Occasionally, the role may require sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must be able to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include the ability to focus at close and long distances, distinguish colors, maintain peripheral awareness, perceive depth, and make precise focus adjustments.

Base Salary

$80,000 - $90,000 USD
