The Opportunity

At Postman, we are revolutionizing the way developers build, trace, and automate API workflows with Postman Flows, a powerful visual programming tool designed to simplify the development and sharing of API-powered applications. With an intuitive drag-and-drop interface, Postman Flows enables teams to collaborate and showcase their APIs regardless of technical expertise.

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Postman Flows Team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building intuitive, high-performance frontend experiences that align with the Flows product vision. You’ll collaborate closely with backend engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver seamless, user-friendly solutions that delight our customers.

We’re looking for an experienced engineer who thrives on hands-on building, making critical technical decisions, and iterating quickly in an agile environment. You’ll serve as a role model and mentor to other engineers, providing guidance and leadership, while also making a significant impact through influence within and across teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and Development:
    • Build high-quality, responsive user interfaces using modern frontend technologies such as React.
    • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, optimizing applications for performance, scalability, and accessibility.
    • Maintain operational excellence through test-driven development, automated testing, and thorough documentation.
    • Drive improvements in frontend architecture to support future scaling and feature development.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Drive improvements in frontend architecture to support future scaling and feature development.
    • Actively participate in code reviews, sharing knowledge and contributing to the continuous improvement of team processes.
    • Serve as a mentor to other engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration and learning.
  • Tooling and Integration:
    • Develop reusable tools and components that empower other engineering teams to work more efficiently.
    • Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs, ensuring smooth data handling and application performance.
    • Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure seamless deployment and monitoring of frontend applications.
  • Maintenance and Improvement:
    • Continuously refactor and optimize the frontend codebase to improve performance, maintainability, and usability.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest frontend trends, tools, and best practices to keep Postman’s platform at the forefront of innovation.
    • Identify and address technical debt, ensuring the long-term health and scalability of the platform.

About You

You’re a seasoned frontend engineer with a passion for building innovative, user-centric applications. You have a track record of delivering impactful features and thrive in fast-paced environments. You take pride in writing clean, maintainable code and enjoy mentoring others to help them grow.

  • Experience:
    • 4+ years of experience in frontend development, preferably in a SaaS or cloud platform environment.
    • Proven experience with modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
    • Experience working in agile environments and shipping features on a frequent basis.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and related web technologies.
    • Solid understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility best practices.
    • Experience with RESTful APIs and handling asynchronous requests efficiently.
    • Proficient with version control systems (git), and build tools and bundlers (Webpack, Babel, etc.) and testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright, etc.).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for UI/UX details.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

What Else?

This role is based in NYC, with a reasonably estimated salary range of $175,000 to $245,000, plus a competitive equity package. Compensation is based on your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to our pay-for-performance philosophy, we offer comprehensive benefits, including full medical coverage, flexible PTO, and wellness reimbursement. Salaries will vary outside of the listed metropolitan areas & the U.S.
