A day in the life:

The Director, Planning is responsible for owning the execution and performance of the Planning Pod. You are responsible for leading the development of our planning product as well as developing the team. You are highly regarded for your mastery of media planning and marketing. You develop complex media plans for growth and enterprise-level accounts as well as support on client escalations. You are exceptional at working under pressure and navigating probing client and team questions, difficult conversations, roadblocks, and account issues. You work across teams and are able to  adapt to work well with a variety of personalities and levels (both internally and externally). As a leader you are a trusted resource, advisor, and problem solver. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Owns & Presents Strategic Cross-Channel Media Plans: Lead the development of strategic media plans for enterprise and priority accounts. This includes aligning objectives and KPIs, defining audience targeting, optimizing media channel mix and tactics, selecting channels/partners, and establishing measurement frameworks to drive full-funnel performance
  • Lead Planning Product: Oversee the development and execution of client-facing media planning solutions. This includes facilitating high quality client work, ensuring that processes, teams, and output are maximized for client success
  • Oversee Process Improvement & Efficiency: Drive operational efficiency through tools, processes, and product development and enhancements to enable the team to support rapid growth
  • Team Management & Leadership: Manage a team of media planners, guiding them in their media strategy development and ensuring consistency in the quality and effectiveness of deliverables. Deliver timely, constructive and actionable feedback to team members to up-level their performance and propel their career development. Support key department initiatives such as recruitment, staffing, training, onboarding and more
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure media plans align with performance metrics, attribution models, and client KPIs, blending strategic inputs with optimization outputs. Partner with the Data Intelligence team to continuously refine media strategies using incrementality testing results
  • New Business Support: Assist the Revenue and Analyst teams by creating collateral development, supporting pitches, and collaborating closely with the dedicated sales lead
  • Thought Leadership: Stay in the know on key industry trends, tools, partners, and innovations. Participate in events such as conferences, speaking opportunities, blog content and training. Develop unique and differentiated POVs on market trends
  • Employ AI technologies to enhance and optimize business processes
  • Utilize and leverage Power Digital's Nova ecosystem as it relates to your department

 

Role Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in cross-channel media strategy/planning, preferably in an agency setting
  • Proven expertise in media planning fundamentals, including campaign structures, tracking, and optimization approaches
  • Strong understanding of audience analysis and demographic trends for full-funnel strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of owned, earned and paid marketing channels as well as first-party data tools 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Demonstrated managerial experience, including the ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of media planners. 2-3  years of team management experience, ideally 2-3 direct reports
  • Highly dependable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is a self-starter
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and decision making skills; ability to clearly communicate complex strategies to senior leadership and executive-level stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to translate quantitative data into actionable business insights and recommendations
  • Team-oriented and collaborative, effective interpersonal skills, highly organized

  • Lead media planning initiatives + escalations for enterprise + priority accounts 
    • Measured by churn, expansion, and retention
  • Internal NPS: Team avg. 75%+, individual 85%+
  • Team management + training for 3+ DRs; workflow optimization to ensure on-time delivery; Create learning roadmap for DRs, conduct monthly + weekly 1:1s, Team retention >80%
  • Support the development and templatization of media planning deliverables by industry based on business needs (ie Fashion, OCR)
  • Oversee development of 1 new case study per qtr. highlighting media planning impact
