A day in the life:
The Finance Associate, Corporate Strategy will directly support Power’s organic and inorganic growth on various initiatives & workstreams within the Finance Team and Power as a whole. This role will serve as the main analytical resource for the Finance Team, acting as a right hand to the CFO and Finance team for recurring tasks such the monthly churn / retention analysis along with longer term projects such as annual budgeting and department deep dives. Further, the Finance Associate is expected to have excellent communication skills, possess the ability to “tell a story with numbers'' and explain financial concepts to audiences outside of the Finance and Accounting Teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding Power’s financial projection model, which is used to drive Company-wide business decisions
- Utilize and leverage Power Digital's Nova ecosystem as it relates to your department
- Employ AI technologies to enhance and optimize business processes
- Analyze acquisition targets from a financial point of view, including:
o Building 1-2 year operating models
o Churn / retention analyses
o Employee compensation analyses
o Synergy analyses
o Reviewing and understanding QoE analyses
o Working alongside counterparts at financial sponsor to align diligence tasks and analyses
o Earnout modeling and tracking (as applicable)
o Other related financial diligence workstreams
- Assist Power’s Internal Finance Team with various FP&A Activities on an ongoing basis, including:
o Churn /retention analyses
o Top customers
o Department revenue contribution
o Annual budgeting
o Creation of slides for Monthly Operating Reviews with financial sponsor and Board Meetings
- Other applicable or related duties as assigned
Role Requirements:
- 2+ years experience in an Investment Banking or Transaction Services / Advisory role
- Excellent analytical / problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail
- BA / BS in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or other relevant degrees
- Ability to work with unstructured data to derive insights on business performance
- Self-starter who is able to take on and completely own new projects
- Strong communication skills, EQ and ability to work in collaboration with the Executive Team, VP leadership team and staff members of varying experience levels
- Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, accountability-driven environment
- Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience gathering and reporting on data from Netsuite & Quickbooks
- Ideal candidate is based in Southern California, though all geographies within the U.S. will be considered
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Fully proficient with Power’s financial model. Ability to jump in and make updates if needed
- Timely completion of all M&A deliverables by all internally set deadlines, and ability to articulate key assumptions, inputs and recommendations
- 100% accuracy and timely delivery of various internal FP&A reports and analyses mentioned above
Most Important Things (MITs)
- Fully understand Power’s financial projection model, including the ability to articulate the 5-pillars that drive Company performance, the projection methodology and process for making daily updates to each
- Complete ownership of the various models, reports and analyses used to evaluate M&A targets from a financial standpoint
- Ability to present and explain these analyses to Executives and Senior Leadership Team- defend assumptions, make recommendations and update accordingly
- To the extent possible, templatize these deliverables to ensure efficient workstreams and a quick turnaround
- Understand Power’s various sources of business data, the limitations of each and manipulate accordingly to develop recurring reports to derive business insights
