Job Summary:

The Senior Conformity Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and systems comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This role involves conducting conformity assessments, developing and implementing compliance strategies, and providing technical expertise to cross-functional teams. The Senior Conformity Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and safety, mitigating risks, and ensuring the organization’s products meet all necessary regulatory standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of conformity engineers and inspectors.
  • Manage schedules, workload, reports, meeting time lines and schedules of the clients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operational Planning and Execution

  • Oversee and manage field operations related to conformity assessments, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of conformity activities into project timelines.
  • Ensure timely and efficient project completion.
  • Manage project budgets and control costs.
  • Monitor financial performance and make data-driven decisions to achieve targets.
  • Manage change orders as applicable

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise a team of conformity engineers and inspectors, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement within the field team.

 

Conformity Assessment

  • Conduct thorough conformity assessments of products and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Evaluate product designs, specifications, and documentation for conformity to relevant standards.

 

Compliance Strategy Development

  • Develop and implement compliance strategies to ensure products meet all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor changes in industry standards and regulations and update compliance strategies accordingly.

 

Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical expertise and support to cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
  • Advise on design modifications and improvements to ensure product compliance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to conformity and compliance.

 

Safety Compliance 

  • Ensure that all field operations adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations.
  • Maintain and enforce quality standards and procedures.

 

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of conformity assessments, test results, and compliance activities.
  • Generate detailed compliance reports and communicate findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Generate technical reviews of reports completed by other engineers/technicians with proper corrections meeting regulatory compliance of the applicable standards.

 

Client Relations and Support

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to clients throughout the conformity assessment process.
  • Address client concerns and issues promptly and professionally.

 

Testing and Validation

  • Develop and execute test plans to validate product compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Oversee testing activities, analyze test results, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Comply with NETA Testing requirements if required.

 

Risk Mitigation

  • Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of non-compliance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions complying with industry standards and/or specific equipment standards.

 

Training, Development, and Continuous Improvement

  • Provide training and guidance to team members and other departments on conformity assessment and compliance processes.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to conformity and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in conformity and assessment and compliance management.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and safety.

 

Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.

Attributes/Abilities:

  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to conformity and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in conformity assessment, compliance, or a related field.
  • Certifications preferred (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional).
  • Proven experience in conducting conformity assessments and developing compliance strategies. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Operates light measuring instruments.
  • Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust. 
  • Requires field work in industrial environments.
  • May require travel 30% of the time.
