
Contractor, Lab Operations Technician

Position Overview:
The Lab Technician plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our chemistry laboratory, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-stocked working environment for scientific staff and operations. This position is responsible for inventory management, lab organization, safety compliance, and general operational support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced scientific environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow established Quality SOPs to track, receive, and organize inventory, including reagents, lab consumables and PPE in LIMS and CMS.
- Manage and monitor laboratory equipment by coordinating service/repairs as needed and ensuring documentation is to Quality standards.
- Update and maintain instrument records in a qualified asset management system.
- Assist with internal transport and movement of 55-gallon solvent barrels via the use of a Powered Industrial Truck (keg lifter).
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, including proper storage and disposal of chemicals, biohazards, and sharps.
- Assist with lab documentation including SOPs, safety records, and equipment logs.
- Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and building facilities as needed.
- Participate in audits, safety inspections, and emergency preparedness drills.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a laboratory or lab operations role preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with common lab equipment and safety practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with basic software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, inventory management systems).
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., GLP, GMP, etc.).
- Knowledge of EHS protocols.
- Familiarity with LIMS or lab tracking software.
- Experience with high volume solvent systems.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires on-site presence in a laboratory setting.
- Will involve lifting of boxes, carboys or lab supplies (up to 50 lbs).
