Site Services Lead

We’re looking for a Site Services Lead to join our squad in Zabrze at an exciting time in our hyper-growth journey, with further international expansion on the horizon. This role would suit a proactive candidate who is ready to step up in their career, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and eager to be part of a business where they can have a tangible positive impact.

This role will be heavily involved in plant’s Engineering activities, supervising external technical services providers and managing related contracts for utilities and property maintenance, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance. The ideal candidate possesses an engineering background, strong negotiation skills, fluency in English, and familiarity with Polish technical standards. This position requires collaboration with the internal maintenance department and the UDT, along with the ability to analyse data and contribute to risk management. This role will report to our Engineering Manager and will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business in Poland and UK.

In this role, you can expect:

• Contract and Vendor Management: Overseeing and managing contracts with external technical service providers. This encompasses the full lifecycle management of contracts and services essential for the proper functioning of the technical infrastructure, including direct contacts with the suppliers, especially:
• Electricity: managing contracts with electricity suppliers, monitoring consumption, and ensuring the reliability of the power supply.
• Water: overseeing agreements with water and effluent (including water treatment station and wastewater providers), tracking usage, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Utilities, as: steam generation installation, ammonia and glycol refrigeration, compressed air.
• Contracts related to property management (may include cleaning, security, landscaping, waste management, etc.)
• UDT Liaison: Maintaining relationships and cooperation with the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT). This includes scheduling and coordinating inspections, ensuring compliance with UDT regulations and standards for relevant technical equipment and installations, and managing any required documentation.
• Managing Plant’s Technical Documentation: responsible for organizing, maintaining, and updating all technical documentation related to the managed services and installations. This includes contracts, service agreements, technical specifications, manuals, inspection reports, and other relevant records.
• Data and Risk Analysis: Analysing utility consumption, monitoring trends, identifying potential inefficiencies, and providing reports to support cost optimization and sustainability efforts. Participating in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, procedures and scenarios. 
• Providing support to the plant Maintenance team, specifically regarding other services provided by external contractors. This involves facilitating communication, ensuring that external services meet the needs of the Maintenance Department, and assisting in resolving any issues related to external service delivery.

 

🔎 A bit about you

• Loves dogs (naturally),
• Has at least 3 years of experience in managing utilities contracts in a manufacturing company,
• Has a very good knowledge of the applicable Polish engineering / technical standards in manufacturing industry (food industry experience is a plus),
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to effectively conduct discussions and meetings with external service providers are essential,
• Is well organized, experienced in managing the information,
• A higher technical education degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Civil Engineering is a preference,
• Experience in working with the AutoCAD is welcomed,
• Has a very good knowledge of English and Polish,

A certified B-Corp, Butternut Box is committed to doing better for the planet, people and dogs. In 2023, the business secured £280m of investment from General Atlantic and L Catterton. This significant investment has allowed the business to rapidly develop its international expansion plans. 

These plans centre around European expansion with Czech Republic next market to launch. Beyond that, there are several markets that would be attractive considerations including: Austria, Nordics, Italy and France.

Butternut Box fully acquired PsiBufet, a Polish Direct to Consumer dog food brand in 2023. This business provides a foothold from which to establish a new manufacturing plant in Zabrze, to serve these markets. 

The new site is in Zabrze. This new site will be 37,000 M2 and will eventually have 8 lines with the capacity to produce 1,200T per week.

 

Key Project Milestones:

🏗️ Building preparation for food production – ongoing. 

⚙️ Equipment installation and launch of fulfilment operations – planned for Autumn 2025. 

👨‍🏭 Team recruitment and training – new employees will be trained by the experienced team at Rudie’s Kitchen (UK). 

🥩 First production – end of year 2025.
