What This Role is About:

We are seeking an experienced human resources manager who aligns with our values and is inspired by our mission. The Manager, Human Resources is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the HR function at Puffco. This is a highly cross-functional role that interacts with all levels of employees across the organization, including senior management. This role is responsible for enhancing and managing Puffco’s routine HR functions, including employee on/offboarding, benefits and leave administration, compliance and talent acquisition. 

They will also help drive talent development, employee engagement initiatives and employee recognition programs. We are looking for someone with a growth mindset who genuinely loves people operations. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and must be able to build connection through communication. This role reports directly to the EVP of People and will manage other members of the Human Resources team. This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days week required in office located in downtown Los Angeles, CA. 

Some things you will be responsible for:

  • Administer routine HR functions, including benefits, compliance, talent acquisition, performance management, and talent development
  • Provide HR support to management and staff as specialized or sensitive questions arise
  • Manage others on the HR team
  • Support performance management process
  • Managing employee relations issues with empathy
  • Develop and maintain learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
  • Streamline existing, and implement new, processes and procedures as needed
  • Document employee complaints and issues, and oversee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment and wage laws and regulations, and maintain company policies as needed

Some qualifications and skills we need you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner
  • Knowledge of HR responsibilities, systems, and procedures typical for a mid-sized company
  • Outstanding time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage conflict and exercise effective judgement and discretion in difficult situations
  • Prior experience managing other HR professionals
  • Strong technical skills. Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems (Bamboo, Greenhouse, Culture Amp)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with small and large groups. Prior experience presenting in front of teams.
  • Excellent written skills required. 
  • Working knowledge of employment law and regulations including CA state labor laws and regulations.  
  • Relevant SHRM credentials

The expected annual salary for this role is $95,000 - $120,000. Individual compensation is determined based on experience and skillset.
