About The Position  

The associate’s primary responsibility is to provide tactical support on a client team and to assist with the development and activation of a campaign to achieve a client’s desired outcome in service of the overarching strategy. The client associate serves as an integral member of client teams, contributing foundational support to the development and execution of client and internal projects. They gain exposure across campaign management, strategic planning, and communications, and actively build their understanding of client goals and business challenges.

The role is full-time and has a hybrid work location in Purple Strategies’ Alexandria, VA office.

 

In this role, you will:   

  • Provide foundational support across client teams and projects, including research, data gathering, agenda drafting, note taking, activation coordination, etc. 
  • Assist in developing stakeholder backgrounders, communications materials, PowerPoint presentations and a wide range of other project deliverables ensuring error-free work. 
  • Conduct media monitoring, competitive analyses, and summarize findings clearly and succinctly. 
  • Support logistical and general needs for meetings, presentations, and events, ensuring smooth operations. 
  • Collaborate closely with senior team members, proactively seeking guidance and actioning feedback to develop professional capabilities. 
  • Manage project documentation, scheduling, and reporting accurately and efficiently. 
  • Contribute to internal projects as assigned as well as new business and marketing initiatives. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications and Experience   

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, political science, public affairs, or related field. 
  • Minimum 1-3 years of professional experience, ideally in a consultancy, agency or related environment. 
  • Superb writing and proofreading skills and attention to detail in own work. 
  • Reliability/personal accountability, especially when it comes to adhering to timelines and delivering error-free client-facing deliverables. 
  • Excellent organization, client service and communication skills.  
  • Strong traditional and digital media skills and knowledge, as well as a perspective on the shifting communications environment across digital platforms.  
  • Exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects at once.  
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter who is polished and professional.  
  • Experience with media contact software and media compiling services is a plus.  
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, familiarity with research tools preferred. 
  • Open-minded and respectful to multiple points of view; comfortable collaborating closely with others.

Work Location    

This is a full-time position based in our Alexandria, VA headquarters.  Purple Strategies offers a hybrid model and seeks employees who are comfortable working in the office three days a week.
