Internship Programme – Health Economic Modelling  

 

Position Overview 

 Putnam is looking to hire an intern to join our team. You will work with an international team of health economists, and under the conduct of an experienced analyst, the intern would work on health economic projects developing cost-effectiveness and budget impact models. You will be able to contribute to every step of the projects, from collecting data and building and reporting on the models. 

The program will run full-time Monday through Friday for 3 months (starting in July of 2025) over the summer. There will be opportunities to continue working with the team part-time during the school year. The end date to the internship will be agreed upon between the students and their manager.   

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work with team on development of economic models (for example, Markov/state transition, Partitioned survival, Patient-level simulation, Dynamic models (SEIR)), including development of model specifications, programming economic models and interpretation of results 
  • Gather and analyze epidemiological and clinical data from literature and databases to inform model inputs 
  • Support model quality checks and run scenario testing to ensure model accuracy and robustness 
  • Work with project team to develop reports and presentations 
  • Internal communication and contribute to project external communications  
  • Contribution to development of evidence generation plans 
  • Reviewing HTA and reimbursement decisions 

 

Desired Skills and Experience  

Functional technical expertise 

  • Last or second last year of studies with a large component in health economics or related disciplines such as Economics, Mathematics, Pharmacy, Statistics, Computer Sciences and other  
  • Experience with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, VBA and R 
  • Interest in health economics 
  • Tenacity and patience, to see research projects through from proposal to completion 
  • Good analytical skills 
  • Good time management and organizational skills 
  • Fluency in English
