Senior Systems Engineer
ABOUT US
E-commerce got real-time data infrastructure decades ago. Physical stores still have not. RADAR is changing that.
RADAR is building the data infrastructure layer for the physical world, starting with retail. Our hardware-enabled SaaS platform uses proprietary overhead sensors, software, and AI-powered analytics to locate every product in a store, continuously, down to the fixture. We are deployed across 1,400+ stores with retailers including American Eagle Outfitters and Old Navy, processing tens of billions of real-world events every day, delivering 99%+ accuracy in complex, noisy environments - at fleet scale.
RADAR is one of the best-funded companies in retail technology, backed by a recent Series B financing at a $1 billion valuation. Inventory accuracy is only the beginning. We believe RADAR can become foundational infrastructure for the physical economy, powering new AI-driven commerce experiences across retail and beyond.
Join us if you want to work on a large, unsolved, technically challenging problem with an ambitious team building category-defining technology.

ABOUT THE JOB
Radar is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer with end-to-end ownership of system-level inventory features. You will lead the problem solving process, analyze test data, write requirements and coordinate releases to ensure high quality for all customer deliveries. You will form relationships with the whole cross-functional team and bring clarity and efficiency to drive the group forward. You will own end-to-end testing for your feature and oversee your feature through design, implementation, testing, debug and customer release.
Responsibilities:
- End-to-end Ownership: You will be the go-to expert for your assigned feature(s). You will work autonomously to influence feature definition, design and execution. Others will look to you for guidance and to understand how your feature works across subsystems and customer interfaces.
- System Analysis: Analyze RFID tag read data from multiple environments including operating stores and internal test spaces to assess system performance using Python and SQL. You will test and document key performance metrics and synthesize findings from other team members. You will also dig into production data in BigQuery to monitor field performance for your feature across the fleet.
- Requirements: Write detailed and testable requirements with well-defined acceptance criteria for testing to ensure the implemented feature meets both internal and customer expectations. Decompose requirements to subsystem levels to inform required component performance.
- Validation: Collaborate with the System Test team to validate design and engineering changes against system and feature requirements. Validate performance of the subsystems and components in Radar’s integrated system including: custom RFID sensors, control software, mobile applications and cloud analytics.
- Triage and Debug: If test failures or field bugs are discovered, triage each failure to clearly identify the problem and the potential root causes. Lead debug sessions with engineers to agree on root cause and solution.
- Leadership: Drive alignment across Hardware and Software Engineering, System Test, Customer Experience, Product, and Design teams. Collaborate with leadership to influence system feature design and implementation.
- Release Planning: Use engineering judgement to deliver the go/no-go decision for customer releases. Communicate the validation and quality plan with scope and timing to engineering and product leadership.
