As the ultimate destination for circular fashion, the brand now offers infinite points of access to its shared closet via a fully customizable subscription to fashion, one-time rental or ownership. Galway Office

Rent The Runway established its European Technology Hub in Galway in April 2019.  Based in the historic Claddagh area of the city, the growing team in Galway tackles core technology challenges and influences the next generation of services critical to Rent The Runway’s success and continued growth.

The Galway office is Rent the Runway's first international office outside the US and enables the company to significantly expand its Software Engineering, Product Development, Machine Learning Engineering and Data Science footprint. Rent The Runway’s Galway-based employees have the opportunity to grow their careers across several roles and career paths in Technology.

Our engineering team is smart, pragmatic, and entrepreneurial. We practice continuous integration & test-driven development, engage in constant peer code reviews & pair programming, and work hard to give back to the software community through open-source contributions.

Our team provides the foundational technology platforms that support engineering, including Software Delivery Platform, Cloud Platform, Quality Engineering, Observability Platform, and Application Operations. We work closely with Technical Leaders and the Senior Staff Engineers to shape technology strategy and modernisation efforts, ensuring alignment with Senior Technical Leadership and the Product organisation to drive cross-functional execution.

About the Role

We seek a Technical Programme Manager to lead and deliver high-impact, cross-functional initiatives within our technology organization. The first primary focus for this role will be to drive the execution of our SOX compliance initiative, ensuring alignment across teams, structured tracking of deliverables, and overall programme success. This critical, high-priority project requires cross-functional collaboration, meticulous execution, and strong stakeholder alignment.

Beyond SOX compliance, this role will evolve to support large-scale technical and strategic initiatives, working closely with Senior Technical Leadership and Senior Staff Engineers to drive technology modernization and strategic feature delivery. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and collaborative programme leader who can align multiple teams, engage with key stakeholders, and ensure the seamless execution of complex technical initiatives.

Success in this role comes from fostering collaboration and building strong relationships across teams. We’re seeking someone who can motivate, influence, and align teams through strategic communication and partnership.

What You’ll Do:

Immediate Focus: SOX Compliance Execution

  • Programme manage our SOX compliance execution, ensuring technology teams meet key regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Align stakeholders across Engineering, Security, IT, Finance, Legal and Compliance, ensuring clear ownership, align on priorities, remove blockers, tracking deliverables, ensuring control gaps are addressed as we progress toward audit readiness.
  • Facilitate structured programme governance, providing leadership visibility into SOX compliance progress, risks, mitigation strategies and key milestones.
  • Ensure SOX compliance is embedded into our technology processes, working with teams to implement sustainable frameworks. Making SOX readiness a natural part of our engineering and platform workflows.
  • You don’t need to be a SOX expert, but familiarity with compliance processes and the ability to engage with subject matter experts is beneficial.

Future Scope: Driving Technology Modernization & Strategic Delivery Coordination

As the role evolves beyond SOX compliance, it will focus on two key areas:

  1. Driving Technical Modernisation Initiatives
    • Partner with Technical Leadership to identify and drive strategic technical improvements, ensuring alignment between engineering investments and business objectives.
    • Facilitate the development of clear business cases for modernisation efforts, demonstrating the customer and growth impact of investments in scalability, performance, and platform enhancements.
    • Partner with Technical and Product Leadership to ensure modernisation efforts are prioritised appropriately, alongside business-driven initiatives, balancing product and engineering needs.
  2. Enhancing Strategic Feature Delivery Coordination
    • Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across strategic product and platform teams, ensuring a well-structured and predictable approach to feature delivery across our tech organization.
    • Establish clear tracking mechanisms for deliverables, ensuring visibility into progress, dependencies, and risks.
    • Facilitate collaboration between specialized teams (e.g., infrastructure, security, DevOps, and product engineering) to ensure that platform and feature teams are aligned on priorities and execution timelines.
    • Act as a bridge between technical teams and leadership, ensuring that strategic projects stay on track and that stakeholders have the information they need to make informed decisions.

This dual focus ensures that technical modernization is prioritized in a way that supports business growth, while also enabling seamless execution of feature delivery across our technology organization.

About You:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional programmes or technical initiatives, ideally within a technology-driven organization.
  • Strong ability to engage and align stakeholders across multiple teams, driving clarity, accountability, and execution.
  • Experience running compliance, security, or risk-related projects is beneficial but not required, — a strong programme management mindset and ability to coordinate complex efforts is key.
  • Experience managing complex cross-team dependencies, ensuring seamless execution across multiple engineering and product teams.
  • A persuasive communicator who can influence without authority, driving collaboration and alignment among diverse technical and business stakeholders.
  • Comfortable balancing structure with agility, ensuring teams have the necessary frameworks to coordinate and execute efficiently without excessive overhead.
  • Comfortable navigating a fast-paced, evolving technology environment with multiple competing priorities.

Why Join Us?

  • Be at the center of a high-impact, business-critical initiative (SOX compliance) while setting the stage for broader technology improvements.
  • Work closely with senior leadership and engineering teams to drive initiatives that balance technical excellence with business outcomes.
  • Own and drive the execution of large-scale initiatives that impact the future of our technology stack and strategic feature delivery.
  • Join a collaborative, fast-moving environment where your ability to motivate and align teams through influence will be highly valued.
