About the Job:

The Director of Site Merchandising leads the strategy and execution of merchandising on site and app. They will be responsible for developing separate but cohesive merchandising strategies across product lines (subscription, reserve, resale) and customer tenure (prospects, members), to drive engagement, loyalty, and conversion. They will own the project management of site refreshes, managing execution and timelines across multiple teams to support Marketing and Inventory goals. They will build our suite of merchandising tools to support our vision, working closely with product and tech. They will manage the visual merchandising and fashion POV on site through curation and report on performance. 

The successful candidate is a self-starter with curiosity, strong process, and an interest or background in e-commerce and direct-to-consumer sales. They get energy from and work successfully in high-impact, fast-paced, and data-conscious environments. Their work will ensure that Rent the Runway’s shopping experience reinforces inventory selection as our competitive advantage and value proposition of an endless closet that can save time getting dressed.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a complex calendar of site updates (merchandising & creative) that optimizes product lines (subscription, reserve, resale) and customer tenure (prospects, members) to drive engagement, loyalty, and conversion.
  • Own the site refresh calendar and process. Improve or introduce tools and processes, to ensure this works seamlessly throughout the year.
  • Own the performance of merchandising choices by establishing metrics of success. Swiftly adapt merchandising choices across the homepage, product listing pages, product pages, search and browse experiences, and site navigation based on performance.
  • Manage internal and third party tools and systems including the Content Management System (CMS), product catalog, and curation management tools. 
  • Develop, mentor, and grow a team of site merchandisers.
  • Build and forge strong connections with Marketing, Buying, Inventory Management, and Product functions within RTR to be a driver and executor of strategies within the broader cross-functional customer organization.

About You:

  • Experience leading strategy and execution in an e-commerce, consumer tech, and/or retail based company with an online merchandise business, fashion is a plus.
  • Experience with site merchandising, site performance, content management systems.
  • Experience leading early career-stage direct reports. 
  • Proven ability to navigate and improve complex systems and processes in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $134K to $168K. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. This position is also eligible for equity compensation.
