Proposal Manager I

Remote

At RES, we’re looking for purpose-driven individuals who are passionate about restoration and sustainability, and who want their work to make a lasting environmental impact. Our team members go above and beyond, bringing initiative, integrity, and a strong work ethic to every project. Collaboration is key—we thrive on teamwork, open communication, and diverse perspectives. In a field that constantly changes, we value those who are resilient, adaptable, and resourceful in the face of challenges. If you're intellectually curious, eager to learn, and ready to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources, you’ll find your place here.

RES is seeking a Proposal Manager I to join our team. In this role, you will lead the development of compliant, compelling, and high-quality proposals that support RES’s mission to deliver innovative environmental solutions. You’ll collaborate with capture managers, subject matter experts, and internal teams to produce polished responses to RFPs, RFIs, and grant applications—helping RES win projects that restore ecosystems and strengthen communities.

This role will support our teams on the West Coast. While the position can be based anywhere in the U.S., our preference is for candidates in the Central or Pacific time zones, ideally near a major RES office.

Why You’ll Love This Job

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re passionate about shaping winning proposals, enjoy working with cross-functional teams, and take pride in turning complex information into clear, compelling narratives. You’ll get to sharpen your technical writing, coordination, and project management skills while supporting pursuits that make a measurable difference in the environment. Every proposal you help deliver represents a chance to expand RES’s impact across the U.S.

What your day will look like?

70% of your time, you will be producing and delivering proposal documents, procurement forms, grant applications, and statements of qualifications, making sure they are complete and consistent with RES and client goals and requirements. This means you will be developing, organizing, editing, and formatting written content, graphics, and tables yourself, but also coordinating writing assignments and data collection among multiple authors. You will develop and compile resumes, project descriptions, standard and example text, and other information from a variety of internal and external databases. Be ready to showcase your outstanding written and verbal communication skills during the interview!

20% of the time you will be managing proposals and grant application logistics. This means you will be organizing kick-off and planning calls and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. The objective is to deliver proposals and applications that meet public sector clients’ procurement requirements during prequalification and application or bid submittal processes. This includes management of content and deadlines from external subcontractors.

You will also manage the content library, archiving and maintaining the organization of proposal and application content.

5% of your time, you will be managing internal timelines for prequalification and registration renewals. You will track and complete vendor registrations and prequalification statuses, renewals, and expiration dates.

5% of your time, you will be doing knowledge management. This means you will be analyzing past processes to gather lessons learned and positive actions at the submittal of applications and proposals to enable process improvement and higher win rates. You will research and summarize client prequalification, procurement cycles, and procurement processes. You will then share your conclusions with the team.

We’d Love to Talk to You If You Have Many of the Following

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of proposal development experience, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience managing proposals, with writing samples and graphic examples to share.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of SF330 forms and experience supporting public-sector proposals.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (or willingness to learn) and ability to leverage data for proposals.
  • Experience navigating bidding websites and Federal procurement systems.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • At least 2 years of experience in environmental proposal development.

You Will Thrive in This Role If You

  • Excel at collaborating across teams and departments.
  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at balancing multiple priorities.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Take initiative to push teams toward deadlines while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Can be trusted with sensitive and confidential data.
  • Approach your work with patience, persistence, and pride in delivering polished results.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
