ABOUT THE ROLE: 

As the Quality Technician, you will check the quality of incoming, in process and outgoing material and products. You will be a firm advocate of quality on the production floor. The ideal candidate will possess a trained eye for detail and will be reliable and committed. Knowledge and comprehension of quality methods and standards is essential.

The Quality Technician will spend a majority of the day on the production floor product quality. The goal is to ensure that our products meet engineering specifications and exceed our customer's high standards.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the QA Manager and Quality Lab Technician to maintain and improve quality standards and testing procedures.
  • Conduct incoming materials inspections on foam, mattress covers, fire socks and other components.
  • Assist the QA Lab Tech with quality and durability tests on materials, such as foam, textiles, zippers, color matching and bonding agents.
  • Assist in testing foam and textile samples for tolerance under tension, compression, and variable environmental conditions to help determine product durability and performance.
  • Review Start of Shift inspection sheets and perform line side random inspections to assess product quality.
  • Assist Production and Receiving teams on quality related issues and accept or reject products based on quality standards and specifications.
  • Review Quality Hold and Nonconforming log daily
  • Verify all rejected and non-conforming product is tagged and labelled correctly
  • Have a basic understanding of the qualifications needed for ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
  • Perform other quality related task as needed to help the company meet all quality objectives set by Management and the Quality Manager.

 

JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as quality inspector or relevant role
  • A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach
  • Responsible and trustworthy 
  • Familiarity with quality measurement tools.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies
  • Be able to read a tape measure and other measuring devices (test given)
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to handle and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

The employee is often required to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  Employee may be required to lift 10-50 lbs. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The employee will generally be housed in a shop environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.  Personal Protective Equipment is provided and required.
