Role Summary:

As the Regional Head of People – APAC, you will lead the People agenda for the region, focusing on optimizing operational efficiency, enhancing employee engagement, and aligning regional initiatives with our global People strategy — thinking globally, acting locally.

This role balances driving the regional People strategy with supporting the global COO function, whose leadership is primarily based in the UK. You’ll collaborate with organizational leaders, Executive Committee (ExCo) members, and your colleagues in Learning & Development (L&D) and Talent Acquisition to build a high-performing, highly engaged culture. As the most senior People leader in the region, you will develop the performance and reputation of the local People team, many of whom report into leaders in London, Cyprus, and US, as well as oversee HR operations in the Asia Pacific region, supported by two People Operations team members who you have direct line management responsibility for.

Primary Responsibilities:

People Strategy & Leadership:

  • Partner with senior leadership locally and globally, as well as the wider APAC People team, to align business goals with actionable, data-driven People strategies.
  • Drive change management processes across the region to support global and local initiatives, ensuring effective execution.
  • Lead and mentor the local People team in Manila, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring operational excellence.
  • Represent the regional APAC perspective in the development and execution of the People strategy.

Talent Practices and Engagement:

  • Address leadership gaps by implementing effective management and leadership solutions in partnership with the L&D team.
  • Collaborate with the global Business Partnering team to design and execute talent management practices, including performance management, succession planning, and career development.
  • Develop programmes to enhance employee engagement, communication, career growth, well-being, and work-life balance.
  • Work with L&D to design and deliver relevant training and development opportunities.

Performance Culture:

  • Promote a performance-driven culture by aligning metrics with business outcomes and leading the performance management process.
  • Advise managers on coaching, feedback, and performance improvement strategies.
  • Monitor productivity and support continuous improvement efforts.

Core HR Oversight (APAC Region):

  • Identify and streamline core HR processes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across the region.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for APAC (covering approximately 190 people in Manila, Sydney, and Singapore) until the team is fully developed, after which you’ll act as a point of escalation.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations while aligning policies with global standards.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to build a cohesive and united culture.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Experience managing global HR projects across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a Senior HR Business Partner or Regional Head of HR role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR practices and labor laws in the APAC region, particularly in the Philippines, Singapore, and Australia.
  • Proven track record of streamlining HR processes, driving efficiency, and leveraging data for decision-making.
  • Experience in the fintech industry is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term goals and day-to-day HR operations.
  • Results-oriented, capable of developing pragmatic, data-driven, and commercially focused People initiatives.
  • Strong collaborator, able to navigate a matrix structure with stakeholders across time zones and cultures.
  • Effective communicator with strong influencing and change management skills.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with a drive for continuous improvement.
