Program Manager, Student Success Hub | Road to Hire
Position Overview
Road to Hire is seeking exceptional mission-aligned talent to join its team, as it pivots to a new chapter to position itself for new heights of success and organizational excellence.
The newly created Student Success Hub function serves as the foundation of Road to Hire's mission to enable, empower, and accelerate student achievement across the high school to college continuum. As the organization's front door and primary engagement hub, this division represents where participants begin their journey and invest the majority of their time with the organization. The founding Student Success Hub Program Manager will build and lead this critical function from the ground up, establishing integrated systems, collaborative processes, and a student-centered culture that drives measurable outcomes and sustainable success. Similar to other roles within the organization, since Road to Hire is preparing for growth, there remains considerable career progression opportunity in this role as our scope of service and participants increase.

Key Responsibilities
About the Role: This role demands exceptional leadership with deep expertise in higher education, academic advising, student success frameworks, enrollment management, and/or student affairs. The Program Manager must bring proven experience in guiding students through complex educational transitions and career pathways, with particular strength in academic advising that bridges high school preparation and college readiness programming. Additionally, this position requires demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams that have achieved measurable results in student retention, academic achievement, and program completion.
The Program Manager must excel at fostering deep integration across all organizational functions, ensuring seamless collaboration between academic programming, career services, support services, and external partnerships. Success in this position requires the ability to break down silos, create shared accountability for student outcomes, and build bridges.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of higher education systems, enrollment management strategies, student affairs best practices, and evidence-based student success interventions. They must combine this academic expertise with proven leadership capabilities and superior execution skills, having previously led teams to deliver strong, quantifiable results in student success metrics. This role is critical to ensuring that every participant experiences coordinated, comprehensive support that addresses academic, personal, and professional growth through intentional collaboration across all organizational touchpoints.
Leadership & Team Development
- Launch and scale the Student Success Hub team, including hiring and leading an associate-level direct report (projected to be hired in late 2025/early 2026)
- Foster a collaborative culture that actively integrates feedback and best practices from cross-functional student success teams
- Implement robust project management systems and operational efficiencies that amplify the impact of coaches and instructors
Academic Excellence & Curriculum Innovation
- Lead comprehensive research, design, and implementation of evidence-based curriculum for high school programming
- In collaboration with CSSO and COO, serve as Student Success lead representative in the refresh and redesign R2H summer programming model for high school and college programming in alignment with new organizational strategy and vision
- Collaborate strategically with the Workforce, Innovation and Alumni Network team to ensure seamless curriculum alignment and progression for college-level programming
- Establish quality assurance processes and continuous improvement cycles for instructional materials
- Integrate emerging educational technologies and pedagogical approaches to enhance learning outcomes
Strategic Recruitment & Retention
- Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment strategies that attract participants that align with our mission and in direct partnership and support of our school district goals
- In collaboration with the Data and Operations team, design and manage systems that track student success metrics across the full student journey, ensuring data is actionable and drives continuous improvement
- Design and implement data-driven persistence and retention frameworks with clear success metrics in partnership with the Data and Operations team
- Create early intervention systems to identify and support at-risk students in collaboration with Data and Operations team
- Establish partnerships with feeder institutions and community organizations to build sustainable recruitment pipelines
Communication & Engagement Strategy
- Lead and manage all mass student communications and document collection related to key milestones (FAFSA, college acceptance, scholarship billing, internship/apprenticeship attainment, and job placement), ensuring timely, accurate, and student-friendly processes
- Architect and manage sophisticated mass communication systems aligned with academic calendars and student lifecycle stages
- Develop multi-channel communication strategies that drive engagement, persistence, and program completion
- Create personalized communication pathways that respond to individual student needs and progress
- Implement feedback loops to continuously optimize messaging effectiveness and student response
- Utilize and optimize CRM technology to support communication goals
Research & Strategic Development
- Conduct ongoing research on coaching frameworks, student success/advising methodologies, and evidence-based practices
- Analyze empirical data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for program enhancement
- Translate research findings into actionable strategies and program improvements
- Establish key performance indicators and data collection systems to measure program effectiveness
- Contribute to the broader field through documentation and sharing of successful practices
Minimum Required Competencies
- 5+ years of progressive experience in education, college access/success, or youth development.
- 3+ years of direct team leadership experience, including managing individuals and small teams
- Demonstrated expertise in student success theory and practice across educational transitions
- Strong background in curriculum design, instructional support, and educational program management
- Proven project management skills with ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Experience with data analysis, research methodologies, and evidence-based program development
- Excellent communication skills with ability to engage diverse audiences and stakeholders
- Collaborative leadership style with experience building and managing high-performing teams

Compensation
Compensation Range: $70,000 - $83,000 per year depending on experience level in relationship to leadership and required competencies. We are seeking experienced candidates.

- Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO): We believe time to rest and recharge is essential. That’s why we offer a generous and flexible PTO policy. Full-time employees accrue 20 days of PTO for a full calendar year annually, with an increase to 25 days after five years of service.

Reports to: Chief Student Success Officer
Location Requirements: This is a hybrid position that requires residence in the Charlotte region with required in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday. Seasonal weekends and evenings may be required to support the Student Success team programming and events.
