About your role

We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer who can balance hands-on design work with team leadership. You’ll be both a strategic thinker and a tactical designer—setting a vision, mentoring designers, directly crafting intuitive mobile-first experiences, simplifying complex workflows, and making digital products feel effortless. This is an opportunity to develop and define how small businesses and consumers get legal solutions anywhere, anytime. You’ll be responsible for designing our Consult Experience, which will focus on how our customers engage with our team of Legal Pros through our platform. You will lead a small team of designers dedicated to enhancing how AI empowers customers to navigate their legal needs and seamlessly connect with Legal Pros. You will be in charge of delivering strongly engaging experiences to new and existing customers coming to Rocket Lawyer. You’ll drive the UX strategy for our experiences while also rolling up your sleeves to design, prototype, and test solutions. As a leader, you’ll lead a small team of designers, champion design excellence, and collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering to ship world-class experiences.

How you will make a difference day to day

  • Define and execute the design vision and strategy in collaboration with product managers, engineers, and other key partners, while also contributing hands-on
  • Lead cross-functional ideation sessions, guiding teams through the product design process to generate innovative solutions
  • Champion the voice of the customer by conducting user research, engaging with customers, and integrating personas into design decisions
  • Leverage experimentation and data-driven insights to inform and validate design decisions
  • Design end-to-end user experiences, from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes, ensuring simplicity, engagement, and alignment with business and customer goals
  • Communicate design decisions effectively, presenting to cross-functional teams and executive leadership with clarity and impact
  • Evolve and contribute to the design system, ensuring consistency across mobile and web experiences
  • Mentor and develop designers, providing feedback, coaching, and fostering growth in UX, UI, and design thinking
  • Drive design best practices, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
  • Establish scalable design processes that enhance team efficiency and ensure consistency across projects

What you’ll need

  • 9+ years of product design experience, with a focus on complex software solutions
  • Expertise in end-to-end UX and product design, crafting impactful solutions for challenging problems
  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to present design direction through compelling narratives that communicate the "how" and "why" of decisions
  • Ability to balance customer needs with business goals, market viability, and technical constraints to drive successful outcomes
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills, integrating input from multiple teams, synthesizing feedback, and leading discussions that drive company-wide impact
  • Deep experience in design systems, identifying reusable components to support diverse customer use cases
  • Proficiency in measuring success using qualitative and quantitative UX research methods
  • Experience optimizing design processes and methodologies to improve team efficiency and effectiveness
  • Leadership experience, either through direct management or mentoring designers
  • A strong portfolio showcasing high-caliber visual and interaction design work
  • Mastery of industry-standard design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite—whatever best supports your workflow
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, or a related field—or equivalent work experience

Not sure if you meet all the qualifications? Apply anyway! We value diverse experiences and encourage you to bring your unique talents to our team!

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
