Director Commercial, Australia

Australia

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to help repower industrial heat at scale in Australia. In this role, you will play a critical part in originating, developing, and closing Rondo Heat Battery projects — from first customer engagement through definitive agreement and into delivery.

You will work directly with industrial customers, government and market stakeholders, and internal technical and finance teams, acting as the commercial owner for Australian opportunities.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and grow a robust Australian pipeline by originating new prospects and advancing existing opportunities
  • Own key customer accounts through development, contracting, construction, and early operations; act as the voice of the customer internally
  • Translate customer energy, operational, and decarbonisation needs into commercially viable Rondo Heat Battery solutions
  • Structure complex industrial energy projects in collaboration with utilities, renewable developers, EPCs, and Rondo’s application engineering and project finance teams
  • Lead commercial negotiations and draft MOUs, LOIs, term sheets, and inputs to definitive agreements
  • Support development and implementation of scalable deal development processes (CRM discipline, risk reviews, documentation standards)
  • Identify priority customer segments, sector-specific value propositions, and input into product and market strategy for Australia
  • Qualify customer fit across thermal load, site constraints, energy markets, and commercial readiness
  • Represent Rondo at customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and government or trade forums
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and pipeline reporting
  • Prepare customer-facing materials and conduct preliminary technical and commercial analyses, partnering closely with internal experts

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or similar); MBA or Master’s in Energy, Finance, or Business is desirable
  • 5+ years’ experience in industrial business development, infrastructure, or large capital project sales
  • Experience with one or more of the following: industrial energy systems, renewable project development, energy-as-a-service models, or project finance
  • Proven ability to originate, develop, and close complex, multi-stakeholder deals
  • Strong commercial judgement and contract negotiation capability
  • Familiarity with Australian industrial energy markets, utilities, and regulatory environments
  • Ability to operate independently in an early-stage market while contributing to team and process building
  • Strong analytical skills (financial modelling, Excel) and presentation skills (PowerPoint, senior leadership communication)

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and equity participation
  • Private healthcare
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • Opportunity to help build and scale Rondo’s Australian presence from an early stage

Ideally this role will be performed in the greater Melbourne area with occasional travel to Rondo HQ in California and project sites; however strong candidates from other areas of Australia will be considered. Australian work authorization is required as support with visas or work permits is not available.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
