Senior Product Designer
Senior Product Designer
Sage is on a mission to improve care and quality of life for older adults, starting with those residing in senior living facilities. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among adults over 65. And yet, fall prevention and emergency response systems for older adults are archaic and ineffective. At Sage we've built a more modern way of understanding when older adults need help, including methods for residents to alert caregivers when in need of help, and corresponding software for caregivers to triage response. Our company mission is to create a product that our client counterparts love, and this role is a key part of that objective.
Sage is a small, tight team of ambitious, multi-disciplinary entrepreneurs. We are a software-enabled, mission-driven company, and are focused only on the problems that are central to achieving that mission. At Sage, we work hard and fast but also know that to build a truly important company, we need to treat our work as a marathon, and not a sprint. The journey matters.
About the Role
As a Senior Product Designer at Sage, you will drive the strategy and execution of end-to-end experiences for Senior Living. You’ll play a critical role in shaping the product vision, advocating for users, and delivering elegant, intuitive solutions that improve care delivery. As a senior member of the team, you’ll own complex projects, mentor designers, and collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, analytics, and implementation teams to bring impactful experiences to life.
Reporting to the Head of Design, you’ll have the opportunity to influence our design culture, scale our design system, and refine our user-centered processes as we grow.
Some examples of the work you'll be doing on any given day include:
- User-Centered Design & Research
- Lead strategic user research initiatives—defining research goals, conducting interviews, synthesizing insights, and translating them into actionable design solutions.
- Develop and refine design artifacts (e.g., journey maps, personas, service blueprints) to ensure a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
- Proactively identify gaps in the user experience and advocate for improvements that enhance usability and engagement.
- UI/UX Design
- Own the full product design lifecycle—from conceptual sketches and wireframes to high-fidelity UI designs and prototypes.
- Ensure designs are accessible, scalable, and aligned with our design system, while also knowing when to push boundaries for innovation.
- Partner closely with engineers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and maintain a high-quality user experience.
- Drive consistency and cohesion across Sage’s design language, contributing to the evolution of our design system.
- Maintain a high bar for craft and attention to detail, while also working efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define product strategies, influence roadmaps, and shape the future of our platform.
- Effectively communicate design rationale, user research insights, and product vision to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor and provide constructive feedback to other designers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Advocate for design best practices and help refine Sage’s design processes as we scale.
