Position Summary:

Samsung Research America is seeking a passionate and collaborative Staff Engineering Dev Lead to join our Health team in Mountain View, CA. As a Staff Engineering Dev Lead, you will be working closely with an experienced, collaborate and entrepreneurial team that strives to offer superior digital health products on wearable and mobile devices, backed by world-class research, technical, and manufacturing capabilities. As a cross-disciplinary health-focused product development team consisting of research, technology, design, strategy and product functions, you have the opportunity contributing to define the next generation of mobile and wearable health product and service experiences. You will be responsible for architecting, designing and building mobile and wearable applications to meet the requirements of high performance, low cost and east to operate. You will also participate in designing backend solutions in collaboration with other engineers. You will take the very best concepts through various stages of production coding, to prove feasibility of a concept and to complete end-to-end functional software services. You will also be expected to help prove concept feasibility and provide input into the architecture of the services we are building. Position Responsibilities:

  • We are looking for a self-motivated Staff Engineering Dev Lead and technology expert with the following key responsibilities:
  • Lead software development with a team of software developers and QA, located both in the US and at international sites.
  • Work closely with management and product management to understand product requirements and define a system architecture which meets those requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, user research, algorithms) to define, design and develop new products from concept to mass production.
  • Identify and champion development of differentiated new technologies, and contribute to the product & technology roadmap.

Experience Requirements:

  • Master’ degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in Software Development
  • Proven experience in Software Development & Architecture in the field of mobile app development
  • Gather and analyze product or business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and system and subsystem architecture
  • Strong system development skills and experiences (sensors, media, algorithms, threading, memory management, sync, networking, power) and solid understanding of asynchronous programming techniques
  • Kotlin development (Android/WearOS) is a must-have skill
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
  • Experience with Software toolkit design and implementation
  • Hands-on experience with Android Studio, Gradle
  • Hands-on experience with Github, Confluence, Jira
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional software and software QA teams
  • Experience building apps which use Bluetooth communication with peripherals
  • Experience building and launching software products which are used by millions of users
  • Good communication/presentation skill and team work spirit
  • Project and team leadership
  • Experience working in an international team structure

The base pay range for roles at this level is listed below, but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the base pay range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training. This is part of our comprehensive compensation package with annual bonus eligibility and generous benefits to help you live life well.
