2025 Summer Intern, SOC Modeling Infrastructure
Lab Summary: The Samsung SOC Lab vision provides innovative SoC architecture, bus / memory subsystem, multimedia subsystems and key IP blocks for future Samsung Galaxy products (Smartphones, tablets and future devices). We are defining the high performance SoC architecture development for various Galaxy device lineups. This lab collaborates with Samsung's strategic SoC partners, Samsung MX headquarter team, and key R&D teams around the globe to innovate and reinvent technology that will positively impact millions of people around the world via the Galaxy flagship products.
Position Summary: We are looking for interns to participate in building an SoC modeling infrastructure for analysis and modelling of new SoC architectures and features for next generation mobile products. Strong coding skills, understanding of computer architecture, and an aptitude for debugging is desired for success for this role.
Position Responsibilities:
- Write SW to automate workload trace collection, processing, parsing and integration
- Integrate different modules into an integrated system for system level architectural tradeoffs study
- Perform performance modeling and analysis of hardware features, applications, benchmarks, and uses cases
Required Skills:
- Currently pursuing a Master or PhD in Computer Engineering/ Science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Hands on with Python and C++ development. Able to understand Java/other languages
- Programming; Data structures and algorithms
- Coursework or other demonstrable skill in Computer Architecture, ARM
- Coursework or other demonstrable skill in Operating System Design
- Understanding of Android OS architecture/application development flow
- Modeling and simulator development/usage/analysis skills
Special Attributes:
- Understanding of building blocks of Smartphone SOC (System on Chip) is a plus
- Hands on with application development for Android is a plus
- Understanding of performance of AI algorithms and the development flow is a plus
- Understanding of Graphics stack on Android and GPU architecture is a plus
- Understand how logging and tracing works across multiple software libraries and components
- Familiarity with IP design tools. SystemC hands on experience is a plus
- Hands on work with Gem5 is a plus
Hourly Pay Rate Range
$44 - $63 USD
