POSITION SUMMARY
Universal EVS Worker demands good physical and mental health. This is repetitive, manual labor involving a wide variety of cleaning, and custodial tasks, and the worker must be able to move continuously during work hours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweep and mop resident rooms, halls, stairways, elevators, and other areas assigned.
- Clean and scour toilets, tubs, and showers in patient tub rooms and all public bathrooms, supplying paper and hand soap as necessary.
- Clean lounge furniture, nursing stations, medicine and treatment rooms, tub and shower rooms, clinic area, and other ancillary and activity areas.
- Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through cleaning of equipment and furnishings.
- Helps sort soiled linen, folds clean linens, and processes resident laundry.
- Must clean up human waste and other body fluids, also responsible for disposal of trash, waste, and other disposable materials.
JOB DETAILS
- Pay Rate: $21.50 per hour
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- Days Off: Thursday & Friday
- Working Days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Saturday
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods commonly used in cleaning disinfecting, and linen/laundry processing.
- Some experience in the performance of custodial work.
- Must be able to operate a vacuum, work in confined spaces around furniture and breakable objects, and have constant contact with residents.
- Ability to read and write in English, follow simple instructions, and work in close quarters with others.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) with continuous movement throughout the workday.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and twisting while performing cleaning and custodial duties.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and heavier loads with assistance or mechanical equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and wiping surfaces for prolonged periods.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, mops, carts, and other custodial tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver around furniture, equipment, and residents in tight or crowded areas.
- Ability to safely handle, clean, and dispose of human waste, bodily fluids, soiled linens, and other biohazard materials in accordance with infection control standards.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, odors, and environmental conditions such as wet floors and varying temperatures.
- Ability to respond promptly to spills, sanitation needs, and urgent cleaning situations., and supplies as needed.
