Nestled in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a center of excellence in providing a continuum of care. This includes the Frank Residences, offering luxurious assisted living and memory care services; the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center, featuring long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and an acute psychiatric unit specialized in mental healthcare for older adults over age 55; and the Jewish Home and Senior Living Foundation.

What You’ll Do as the Clinical Data Analyst:

Essential Functions:

  • Use data analysis to identify areas for improvement in various areas: staffing, patient care, or clinical processes. 
  • Responsible for data management plans including data preparation, data validation activities, etc.
  • Provide computer support in creating graphs for various Performance Improvement projects like fall audits and Quality of Care.
  • Perform data uploads, data validation, run reports and provide data maintenance.
  • Pull data reports and metrics from various databases.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to Director of Quality Assurance, Infection Control Preventionist, and Risk Manager as needed.
  • Generate and analyze daily scheduled reports vis-à-vis actual punched in hours to identify anomalies, provide drivers/insights and recommend action items.
  • Analyze overtime/extended schedules to calculate FTE needed for management review; Provide backup timecard support to scheduling team / unit managers (corrections to punched in times, etc.)
  • Collect, validate, and analyze staffing and census data to calculate Direct Hours Per Patient Day (DHPPD).
  • Abstract data accurately according to defined criteria, regulatory standards, and organizational guidelines.
  • Review and code invoices for CNO approval – research drivers, liaise with business partners, assess budget impact.
  • Provide monthly clinical variance report to CNO for all departments showing variances to budget, including drivers.
  • Gather data from various sources and ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity. 
  • Analyze data using statistical tools and techniques to identify patterns, trends, and insights. 
  • Perform data cleaning, transformation, and modeling. 
  • Prepare clear, concise, and legible findings.
  • Develop reports and presentations to communicate findings. 
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement data-driven solutions. 
  • Ensure that all data management activities comply with relevant regulations and standards. 
  • Perform quality checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability. 
  • May be involved in training staff on data management procedures. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in health or analytics-related field (informatics, epidemiology, economics, statistics, or other field emphasizing analytics).
  • At least one year experience working in a regulated environment; one-year direct experience in healthcare, senior services, or long-term care is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel (pivot tables, graphs, formulas), Access, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Comprehends complexities of data architecture.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Knowledge of macros, pivot tables, query design, and other techniques for automating tasks and increasing productivity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also as a strong team member.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan work and function in a fast-paced, multi-project environment and under deadline pressure to multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with a large variety of computer programs and databases
  • Desire to make an impact in health care with a thirst for complex challenges.
  • Knowledge of medical/clinical terminology preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to be accurate, concise, detail-oriented and to maintain confidentiality
  • Able to provide direction and coordination of a multi-faceted program, including problem resolution within facility.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills with the capacity to make quick and definitive decisions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of twenty-five (20) pounds
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry
  • Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach
  • Fine motor skills
  • Good visual and auditory acuity
  • Ability to safely transport residents/patients in wheelchairs without fatigue over time
