What's the Short Version?

The Process Optimization Engineer works directly with stakeholders in Distribution, IT, and other SanMar business areas to implement new projects and execute continuous improvements in SanMar's distribution facing systems and processes. The Process Optimization Engineer is a subject matter expert for SanMar distribution systems, including HighJump WMS, Proship Parcel Management; voice, RF and scanning hardware, print and bagging hardware and media, automations (goods-to-person), and 3rd party solutions.

 

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Lead implementation of continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing SanMar’s distributions systems and processes.
  • Work with stakeholders and end users to plan and execute solutions that meet business needs and ensure best operational practice.
  • Research, analyze, and troubleshoot SanMar distribution systems; understands the operation and dependencies of the solutions and processes, and how they are used by business customers.
  • Assist Project/Program Managers with creation of detailed project plans and frameworks; lead execution of critical project milestones and related status reporting.
  • Act as point-of-contact for vendors and industry members regarding distribution related solutions and related peripherals.
  • Provide Tier III functional support and training to Distribution staff and first/second line IT support teams; escalates to technical resources as appropriate.
  • Create documentation for systems, tools, and processes for internal team and IT Service Desk use.
  • Subject matter expert for distribution systems end users.
  • Work closely with technical teams to identify, design and deliver changes to system environments; ensures technical projects are in lock-step with functional requirements.
  • Key consultant and change leadership in the optimization of current solutions and the technical design of new solutions.
  • Cross-functional involvement in build and User Acceptance testing activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Industrial Engineering or Technology Discipline or equivalent industry experience
  • 1-3 years of experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives in a distribution or comparable setting, using recognized methodologies such as Lean/Six Sigma
  • 1-3 years of experience using technology-based distribution systems
  • 1-3 years of customer service functional and/or technical support experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with HighJump/Korber, Infios, Proship Parcel Management, WMS equipment (Voice, RF, Scanning)
  • Background in Industrial/Optimization Engineering principles Required
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred
  • Solid subject matter expertise using technology-based distribution systems
  • Excellent MS Excel skills; ability to write and execute basic to intermediate SQL queries is a bonus
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills; ability to learn quickly and resolve issues self-sufficiently
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of individuals across the SanMar and Vendor organizations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to add narrative to data and paint a clear picture for their audience
  • Appropriate sense of urgency and prioritization, passion for problem solving
  • Organized, thorough, detailed
  • Flexible with schedule, able to provide off-hours support either remotely, or onsite, as needed
  • Ability to travel frequently as needed to support SanMar distribution network up to 50% or more

 

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $80,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience.

 

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.

 

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

Remote: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions. SanMar's Eastpointe office is located near Seattle, WA and our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST.
