In Vitro Biochemist/Biophysicist
Schrödinger seeks an In Vitro Biochemist/Biophysicist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.
As a bench scientist in the in vitro biology team with the Schrödinger Therapeutics Group, you’ll collaborate with scientists and drug developers who have experience with all common target classes and therapeutic areas. We’re supported by over 100 software developers and engineers, as well as a large-scale compute infrastructure to apply our proprietary physics-based drug design and optimization platform. What you will do:
- Ideate, design and execute biochemical, biophysical and cell biology experiments in support of drug discovery projects
- Transfer optimized in vitro assays to CRO partners
- Provide in vitro biology input to multiple program teams and help enable biochemical, biophysical and cell-based assay development for characterization and screening of NCEs
- Manage CRO relationships to support, guide and troubleshoot biochemical, biophysical and cell-based experiments
- Review, analyze and interpret in vitro data and troubleshoot issues related to drug discovery projects
- Update the in vitro biology and program teams on active programs regularly
What you should have:
- PhD in enzymology, biochemistry or a related field with 0-2 years relevant hands-on experience, or MS with at least five years of relevant experience in academia or industry
- Expertise in establishing and troubleshooting in vitro biochemical/biophysical assays with experience in multi-mode assay platforms
- Hands-on experience in running binding and functional assays for compound screening and MOA studies
- Background in managing in vitro biology experiments for multiple drug discovery programs
- Experience in Hit ID for drug targets in the undrugged space
- Working knowledge of data analysis and statistical softwares e.g. GraphPad Prism, KinTech explorer
We’d prefer to hire someone with:
- Experience in handling cell cultures, and establishing and troubleshooting cell-based assays (e.g., CTG/MTT, Western blot, CETSA, ELISA and FRET/BRET assays)
- Experience with biophysical methods such as SPR, ITC, and NanoDSF
