What we’re looking for…

ScienceLogic is looking for a QA lead who will be responsible for leading all testing efforts to ensure the highest quality and performance standards for the Skylar product. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strategic planning abilities, software development skills and a strong collaborative approach. Working closely with development teams, product management, and other QA resources, you will develop and execute a robust testing strategy, ensuring that Skylar meets all quality, functionality, and performance requirements.

 

What you’ll be doing…

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive QA strategy for the team, writing Quality Acceptance Criteria for tickets
  • Oversee the QA work happening on the team
  • Perform QA on the team’s development tickets, write automations to test the team’s tickets
  • Review unit test and integration tests in unit test frameworks (i.e. pytest) and provide suggestions or code to improve coverage
  • Ensure good QA test coverage between the unit-test style test automations and BDD style test automations
  • Performing release testing on team assets that are included or available in new SL1 releases. are primarily Low Code Tools, the Snippet Framework, and the PowerPack Engine.
  • Review any test automation failures, finding the cause and helping the team resolve any issues. If the test is faulty, improve it.
  • Maintain and update automations for build verifications, release testing, and any other similar testing.
  • Maintain QA on code bases written in python and PHP
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, UX designers) to understand requirements, define testing scope, and maintain quality standards.
  • Design and execute test plans and cases, covering all aspects of the product, including functional, usability, performance, and security testing.
  • Identify, document, and track issues through resolution using industry-standard defect tracking tools.
  • Establish test metrics, KPIs, and quality benchmarks, regularly reporting on quality status, trends, and risk to stakeholders.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on QA processes, providing guidance on best practices and industry standards.
  • Drive automation initiatives and strategies, ensuring a balance between automated and manual testing where appropriate.
  • Ensure testing practices align with ScienceLogic's compliance, security, and data protection standards.

 

Qualities you possess…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with a minimum of 2 years in a QA leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in test planning, execution, and reporting, with a strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG) and test management platforms (e.g., Jira, TestRail) including ability to write tests
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) including ability to improve/add automations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to understand the purpose of a given feature and use that to create test plans
  • Ability to communicate with the team effectively, understanding the work that’s happening, and the goals being pursued, providing feedback in the planning stages as well as clear feedback on QA needs and test failures.
  • Ability to read and write python and PHP with good understanding. Ability to write python and/or PHP at a basic level, with a focus on test automation.
  • Skill using REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Understanding and ability to use CLI/SSH, shell scripts, databases (SQL), and virtualization
  • QA mindset, able to review a feature and think of extra use cases/tests to shake out bugs.
  • An orientation toward learning, problem solving, and collaboration.
